6. Setup and Installation

6.1 Pre-Installation Preparation

Before beginning the disassembly process, it is crucial to protect your vehicle's interior. Please wrap the center console, armrest box, car gear, and other adjacent areas with soft fabrics such as towels or cloth pads. This precaution helps prevent scratches and damage during the installation.

6.2 Removing Original Components

  1. Air-Conditioning Trim Panel: Pry out the air-conditioning trim panel using a rocker tool. Carefully disconnect the connecting plug located on the back of the panel. Once disconnected, set the trim panel aside in a safe place.
  2. Host Panel: Remove the fixing screws securing the host panel. Disconnect the connecting plug from the back of the host panel and then place the panel aside.
  3. Original Display Screen: Remove the fixing screws that hold the original display screen in place. Press the LVDS plug button on the back of the display screen, then carefully remove the LVDS cable plug. Set the original display screen aside.
  4. Original Host: Remove the fixing screws of the original host. Gently pull the original host outward. Locate and hold the ISO plug buckle of the main engine, then pull it backward to disconnect the ISO plug from the host.
  5. Fiber Optic Cable: Using tweezers, press the small buckle on the original ISO wire head and carefully remove the 2P green optical fiber cable.

6.3 Connecting the New Unit

  1. Android ISO Harness: Guide the Android ISO harness inside the instrument panel and thread the plug end towards the base of the display screen.
  2. ISO Plug Connection: Connect the ISO plug from the original host to the male connector of the Android ISO harness.
  3. Fiber Optic Cable Connection: Connect the 2P green fiber optic cable to the Android ISO female connector. Ensure it is inserted firmly and correctly; avoid inserting it in the wrong direction.
  4. Android ISO Cable Female: Connect the Android ISO cable female to the back of the original host. Insert the plug and press the buckle until it is firmly installed.
  5. 4G and GPS Antennas: Thread the plug ends of the 4G antenna and GPS antenna through the storage box to the base of the display screen.
  6. Antenna Placement: Remove the double-sided adhesive tape from the back of the 4G antenna and GPS antenna. Paste them securely on the dashboard. Guide any excess wire into the gap above the storage box and use a rocker tool to press the exposed harness into the gap.
  7. USB Cable Routing: Open the storage box (glove compartment) and locate a suitable hole for threading the USB cable. If no hole exists, one may need to be drilled. Thread the plug end of the USB cable to the base of the display screen through the storage box, and place the female end of the USB cable into the co-driver's storage box.
  8. Power Cord Connection: Connect the 5V power cord from the Android ISO harness to the 5V power cord on the USB harness.
  9. USB Cable Integration: Unplug the white USB cable from the original host and connect it to the "USB FMALE-A" interface on the USB harness.
  10. USB Male-B Connection: Finally, connect the "USB MALE-B" USB plug on the Android ISO harness to the USB interface of the original host. (Note: The "IDRIVE CONTROL" plug does not need to be connected.)
  11. Wire Management: Place any excess exposed wire in the gap under or on the side of the host. Ensure that the position space on the back of the host is not too small to place wires, preventing pinching or damage.

6.4 Installing the New Unit

  1. Android Device Installation: Install the Android device onto the display base of the original vehicle. Secure the Android device by tightening the locking screws.
  2. Original Host Reinstallation: Carefully install the original host back into its original position. Confirm that it is properly installed and then lock and fix it securely.
