5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the side of the flash unit.
  2. Insert the VB22 lithium battery, ensuring the contacts align correctly. Close the cover securely.
  3. To charge the battery, connect the USB-C charging cable to the battery's USB-C port and the charging plug. Plug the charging plug into a power outlet. The battery can also be charged while inside the flash unit.
  4. A full charge provides approximately 650 full-power flashes.

5.2 Mounting on Camera

  1. Slide the flash's hotshoe mount into your camera's hotshoe.
  2. Rotate the locking ring clockwise until the flash is securely fastened.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button to turn the flash unit on or off. The touchscreen will illuminate upon power-on.

6.2 Basic Flash Modes

The V480O supports various flash modes for creative control:

  • TTL (Through-The-Lens): Automatic flash exposure based on camera metering.
  • Manual (M): Allows manual adjustment of flash power output (1/1 to 1/256).
  • Multi (Stroboscopic): Fires a series of rapid flashes for multiple exposures in a single frame.

6.3 High-Speed Sync (HSS)

The V480O supports High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000s, allowing you to use wider apertures in bright conditions or freeze fast motion. HSS requires a compatible camera and trigger (e.g., Godox XPro, X1T, X2T series). Note: HSS mode is not available when the flash is mounted directly on the camera.

6.4 Wireless Operation (2.4G X System)

The built-in Godox 2.4G wireless X system enables the V480O to function as both a master and slave unit. It supports 32 channels and a transmission distance of up to 100 meters.

  • Master Mode: Control other Godox X system flashes.
  • Slave Mode: Be triggered by a Godox X system transmitter or another master flash.

6.5 Bounce Flash

The flash head can be tilted from -7° to 120° vertically and rotated 0-330° horizontally, allowing you to bounce light off ceilings or walls for softer, more natural illumination.
