Setup

1. Initial Winding

Your BERNY automatic watch is powered by the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped or is low on power, it needs to be manually wound.

  1. Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it springs out to position 0.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide sufficient power reserve to start the watch.
  3. Push the crown back in and screw it clockwise to secure it, ensuring water resistance.

2. Setting the Time and Date

To set the correct time and date:

  1. Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it springs out to position 0.
  2. To set the date: Gently pull the crown out to position 1. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  3. To set the time: Pull the crown out further to position 2. Turn the crown to move the hands clockwise until the correct time is displayed. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set for the date change mechanism.
  4. Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into position 0 and screw it clockwise firmly to ensure water resistance.

Operating Your Watch

Wearing the Watch

The BERNY Titanium Watch features a double-lock clasp for secure wearing. To open, lift the safety clasp, then press the side buttons to release the main clasp. To close, align the two parts of the clasp and press firmly until both locks engage.

Water Resistance (10ATM / 100 Meters)

Your watch is water-resistant to 10 ATM (100 meters), making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and showering. However, it is not designed for scuba diving.

  • Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water.
  • Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam, as this can compromise the seals.

Luminous Display

The watch hands and markers are coated with super-luminous material, allowing for readability in low-light conditions after exposure to light.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your titanium watch:

  • Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the titanium finish and sapphire crystal.

Sapphire Crystal Care

The anti-reflective (AR) coated sapphire crystal is highly scratch-resistant. While durable, it is not entirely scratch-proof. Avoid direct impact and contact with extremely hard surfaces.

Service

For optimal performance, it is recommended to have your automatic watch serviced by a qualified watchmaker every 3-5 years. This includes cleaning, lubrication, and checking the water resistance seals.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running or Stopping Frequently:

Ensure the watch is sufficiently wound. If it has been stationary for a long period, manually wind it 30-40 times using the crown (as described in "Initial Winding"). Regular wear (8-10 hours a day) should keep the automatic movement powered.

  • Date Not Changing at Midnight:

This indicates the AM/PM setting is incorrect. Pull the crown to position 2 and advance the time by 12 hours. Then, reset the correct time and date.

  • Condensation Under the Crystal:

Small amounts of condensation that disappear quickly are usually normal. Persistent condensation or large droplets indicate a loss of water resistance. Immediately take the watch to a professional for inspection and repair to prevent internal damage.

  • Inaccurate Timekeeping:

Automatic watches can vary slightly in accuracy. If your watch is consistently gaining or losing significant time (e.g., more than +/- 30 seconds per day), it may require adjustment by a professional watchmaker.
