1. Important Safety Information
Please read all instructions carefully before installing or operating your Sonance MAG6R speakers. Retain this manual for future reference.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure all power to audio equipment is turned off before making any connections. Improper wiring can cause damage to your equipment or personal injury.
- Installation: Installation should be performed by qualified personnel if you are unsure about any steps. Ensure the mounting surface can safely support the weight of the speakers.
- Handling: Handle speakers with care. Avoid dropping or subjecting them to strong impacts.
- Environment: Do not expose speakers to excessive moisture, extreme temperatures, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
2. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in the package:
- Sonance MAG6R In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair)
- Paintable Grilles (Pair)
3. Installation and Setup
3.1 Speaker Placement
For optimal audio performance, consider the following:
- Stereo Setup: Place speakers equidistant from the primary listening position and spaced appropriately for a wide soundstage.
- Surround Sound: For surround applications, refer to your audio receiver's manual for recommended speaker placement relative to the listening area.
- Ceiling Structure: Ensure there are no obstructions (e.g., studs, pipes, electrical wires) in the desired mounting location.
3.2 Mounting the Speakers
The Sonance MAG6R speakers are designed for flush mounting in ceilings.
- Prepare the Opening: Using the provided template (if included, otherwise measure carefully), mark the desired cutout area on the ceiling. Carefully cut the opening using a drywall saw or similar tool.
- Run Speaker Wire: Route high-quality speaker wire from your amplifier/receiver to each speaker opening. Leave sufficient slack for connections.
- Connect Wires: Strip approximately 1/2 inch (12mm) of insulation from the speaker wire ends. Connect the positive (+) terminal of the speaker to the positive (+) terminal of the amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal of the speaker to the negative (-) terminal of the amplifier. Ensure a secure connection and no stray wire strands.
- Insert Speaker: Carefully insert the speaker into the ceiling opening. The mounting clamps will automatically engage as the speaker is pushed into place.
- Secure Speaker: Tighten the mounting screws (usually located on the front baffle) until the speaker is firmly secured to the ceiling. Do not overtighten.
- Attach Grille: The magnetic grille can now be gently placed onto the speaker baffle. It will snap into position. The grille is paintable to match your ceiling decor.

4. Operation
Once installed and connected to your amplifier or receiver, operating the Sonance MAG6R speakers is straightforward:
- Power On: Turn on your amplifier/receiver and select the appropriate audio input.
- Adjust Volume: Start with the volume at a low level and gradually increase it to your desired listening level.
- Audio Source: Play audio from your chosen source (e.g., music player, TV, streaming device).
The Sonance MAG6R speakers are designed to deliver clear, balanced audio for various applications, from background music to home theater surround sound.
5. Maintenance
The Sonance MAG6R speakers require minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: To clean the grilles or speaker frame, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Grille Painting: If you choose to paint the grilles, ensure you use a thin coat of paint and avoid clogging the perforations, which could affect sound quality.
- Inspection: Periodically check speaker connections to ensure they remain secure.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Sonance MAG6R speakers, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Sound:
- Check that your amplifier/receiver is powered on and the correct input is selected.
- Verify all speaker wire connections at both the speaker and the amplifier are secure and correctly polarized (+ to +, - to -).
- Ensure the amplifier's volume is not set to minimum or muted.
- Distorted Sound:
- Reduce the volume level on your amplifier/receiver. Overdriving the speakers can cause distortion.
- Check speaker wire connections for any loose strands that might be shorting.
- Ensure the audio source is not distorted.
- One Speaker Not Working:
- Swap the speaker wires at the amplifier for the non-working speaker with a known working speaker's wires. If the problem moves, the issue is with the amplifier or wiring. If the problem stays with the speaker, the speaker itself may be faulty.
- Inspect the speaker wire for damage along its length.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact customer support.
