2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Installation and maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel.

  • Always disconnect power before installing, servicing, or removing the circuit breaker.
  • Ensure proper grounding according to local electrical codes and standards.
  • Do not operate the circuit breaker if it appears physically damaged.
  • Verify voltage and current ratings match your system requirements before installation.
  • The circuit breaker is designed for DC applications only. Do not use in AC circuits.
  • A light noise when the device is shaken is normal. This is caused by the built-in arc extinguishing cover and does not affect performance or safety.

3.2 Wiring

Follow the wiring diagram carefully. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) DC input lines to the top terminals and the positive (+) and negative (-) DC output lines to the bottom terminals. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

  • Tightening Torque: Apply a tightening torque of 2.5 N·m to the terminal screws to ensure a secure electrical connection and prevent loose wiring.

4. Operating Instructions

The amiciSmart DC Circuit Breaker operates as a manual switch and an automatic protective device.

  • To Turn ON: Push the toggle switch upwards to the "ON" position. This closes the circuit, allowing current to flow.
  • To Turn OFF: Push the toggle switch downwards to the "OFF" position. This opens the circuit, stopping current flow.
  • Automatic Trip: In the event of an overload or short circuit, the breaker will automatically trip to the "OFF" position, interrupting the circuit to prevent damage. Before resetting, identify and resolve the fault.
  • Resetting: After an automatic trip, ensure the fault is cleared. Then, push the toggle switch fully to the "OFF" position before pushing it back to "ON" to reset the breaker.

5. Maintenance

The amiciSmart DC Circuit Breaker is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  • Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the circuit breaker for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
  • Terminal Tightness: Periodically check the tightness of the terminal screws. Loose connections can lead to overheating and poor performance.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature range (-25°C to 50°C) and is free from excessive dust or moisture.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, clean the exterior of the circuit breaker with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your amiciSmart DC Circuit Breaker, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Breaker Trips Frequently:
    • Cause: Overload or short circuit in the protected DC system.
    • Solution: Disconnect all loads from the circuit. Reset the breaker. If it trips again immediately, there might be a short circuit in the wiring. If it trips only when loads are connected, the total current draw might exceed the breaker's 125A rating. Reduce the load or re-evaluate system design.
  • Breaker Does Not Reset:
    • Cause: Persistent fault or internal damage to the breaker.
    • Solution: Ensure the fault is completely cleared. Try pushing the switch firmly to the "OFF" position before attempting to reset to "ON". If it still does not reset, the breaker may be damaged and requires replacement.
  • No Power Through Breaker (Switch is ON):
    • Cause: Loose wiring, internal fault, or upstream power issue.
    • Solution: Check all terminal connections for tightness. Verify that power is present at the input terminals of the breaker. If connections are secure and input power is present, the breaker may be faulty and needs replacement.
