2. Safety Information

  • Fire Safety: Keep all flame and heat sources away from the tent fabric. The tent is made of flame-resistant fabric, but it is not fireproof.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation to prevent condensation and reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if using heating or cooking appliances (which should ideally be used outside the tent).
  • Weather Conditions: Do not set up the tent under trees with dead branches. In strong winds, use all guylines and stakes for maximum stability. Avoid pitching the tent in areas prone to flash floods or rockfalls.
  • Children: Keep children away from the tent during setup and takedown to prevent injury from poles or stakes.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning setup:

  • Tent Body
  • Rainfly
  • Fiberglass Pole Frame (main poles and ridge pole)
  • Tent Stakes (4 included)
  • Pre-Attached Guylines (4 included)
  • Duffel Stuff Sack

4. Setup Instructions

4.2. Lay Out the Tent Body

  1. Spread the tent body flat on the ground. Ensure the floor is smooth and free of wrinkles.
  2. Secure the four corners of the tent body using the provided stakes. The tent features color-coded webbing for easy identification.

4.3. Assemble and Attach Poles

  1. Assemble the fiberglass poles by gently guiding the sections together. Avoid letting the shock cord snap the sections together forcefully.
  2. Insert the ends of the two longer main poles into the grommets at the corresponding color-coded corners of the tent body.
  3. Attach the clips on the tent body to the main poles. Match the webbing color of the clips to the pole color for correct orientation.

  2. Align the rainfly's corner webbing with the corresponding color-coded webbing on the tent body corners.
  3. Attach the rainfly's loop straps to the grommet cleats at each corner of the tent.
  4. Stretch out the vestibules until taut and secure them with stakes.
  5. For added stability in windy conditions, utilize the pre-attached guylines. Extend them away from the tent and secure them with stakes.

5.2. Ventilation

To minimize condensation and improve airflow, the tent offers optimal ventilation options:

  • Rainfly Vents: The rainfly includes vents that can be opened to allow air circulation.
  • Vestibule Doors: The vestibule doors can be rolled up and secured to increase airflow, especially in fair weather.
  • Mesh Panels: The tent body features mesh panels for continuous air exchange.

5.3. Interior Features

The tent is designed with interior features for comfort and organization:

  • Pockets: Interior pockets provide storage for small items, keeping them organized and accessible.
  • Gear Loops: Loops are available for hanging a light or other small accessories.

6. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Hand wash the tent with mild soap and water. Do not use harsh detergents or bleach.
  • Drying: Always ensure the tent body and rainfly are completely dry before packing away to prevent mildew and damage to coatings. Hang it in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
  • Storage: Store the tent uncompressed in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
  • Pole Care: When disassembling poles, gently push sections together rather than allowing the shock cord to snap them. This prevents wear and tear on the pole ends.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Condensation: If condensation occurs, increase ventilation by opening vents and rolling up vestibule doors. Ensure the tent is pitched in a well-ventilated area.
  • Loose Rainfly: If the rainfly becomes loose, especially after getting wet, re-tighten the straps at the corners. Fabric can stretch when damp.
  • Damaged Shock Cord: If a pole's shock cord breaks, it can often be repaired or replaced. Contact Kelty customer service for assistance or replacement parts. While not essential for tent function, it aids in assembly.
  • Leaking: Ensure all seams are properly sealed. If leaks persist, inspect for punctures or tears and repair with a tent repair kit.
