ApisQueen U5 Underwater Thruster Instruction Manual

Model: U5 CCW

Brand: ApisQueen

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of your ApisQueen U5 Underwater Thruster. Designed for fresh water use, this powerful brushless motor delivers 15.4 lbs (7 kg) of thrust, making it ideal for various watercraft applications such as inflatable boats and kayaks. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your device.

2. Safety Information

  • Fresh Water Use Only: This thruster is designed exclusively for fresh water environments. Use in saltwater may cause corrosion and damage not covered by warranty.
  • Propeller Safety: Keep hands, hair, loose clothing, and other objects clear of the propeller at all times, especially during operation. The propeller can cause serious injury.
  • Electrical Connections: Ensure all electrical connections are secure and properly insulated before connecting to a power source. Incorrect wiring can lead to short circuits, overheating, or damage.
  • Battery Compatibility: Use only recommended battery types (24V LiPo battery, supports up to 29.4V (7S LiPo)). Ensure the battery is fully charged and in good condition. Batteries are not included with this product.
  • ESC Handling: The Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) is anti-splash water but should not be submerged in water for extended periods. Protect it from prolonged exposure to moisture.
  • Adult Supervision: This product is not a toy. Adult supervision is required when used by or near children.
  • Storage: Store the thruster and all components in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

4. Setup and Connection

Follow these steps to set up your ApisQueen U5 Underwater Thruster. A visual guide is also provided in the video below.

  1. Turn on the Remote Control: Ensure your remote control is powered on. You will hear a beep indicating successful activation.
  2. Connect Thruster to ESC: Connect the thruster's motor wires to the corresponding output wires of the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). Ensure correct phase connection.
  3. Connect ESC Receiver to Remote Control Receiver: Insert the signal cable from the ESC into the first channel (or appropriate channel) of your remote control receiver.
  4. Connect ESC to Battery: Connect the ESC's power input to your recommended 24V LiPo battery. Upon connection, the thruster will emit a "bi-bi-bi" sound, indicating it is in working condition and ready for operation.
  5. ESC Placement: Position the ESC in a location where it is protected from prolonged water submersion. While it is anti-splash water, it is not designed for long-term soaking.

5. Operating Instructions

Once properly connected, the thruster's operation is controlled via the remote control. The thruster requires an ESC to control its rotation and a PWM signal from the remote control or microcontroller.

  • Forward/Reverse Control: Use the throttle on your remote control to adjust the speed and direction of the thruster.
  • Performance: The thruster provides a maximum thrust of 7kg (15.43 lbs). Performance may vary based on voltage and throttle input. Refer to the performance chart for detailed data.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your thruster.

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in fresh water, rinse the thruster with clean, fresh water to remove any debris or residue.
  • Propeller Inspection: Regularly inspect the propeller for any signs of damage, cracks, or entanglement with fishing lines or other debris. Clean if necessary.
  • Cable Inspection: Check all cables and connectors for wear, fraying, or corrosion. Replace any damaged components immediately.
  • Storage: Store the thruster in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Thruster not spinning or no response.
  • Loose or incorrect electrical connections.
  • Battery low or not connected.
  • Remote control not powered on or not paired.
  • ESC not receiving PWM signal.
  • Check all connections (thruster to ESC, ESC to receiver, ESC to battery).
  • Ensure battery is charged and properly connected.
  • Turn on remote control and ensure it's paired with the receiver.
  • Verify PWM signal from remote/microcontroller.
Reduced thrust or unusual noise.
  • Debris caught in propeller.
  • Low battery voltage.
  • Damaged propeller.
  • Disconnect power and carefully remove any debris from the propeller.
  • Charge or replace the battery.
  • Inspect propeller for damage; replace if necessary.
Incorrect water outlet direction.Motor phase wires connected incorrectly. If the water outlet direction is incorrect, change any two of the three motor phase wires connected to the ESC.
