Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your BAFANG M325/M625 Series Mid Drive Ebike Conversion Kit. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.
The BAFANG M325/M625 series motors are designed to convert standard bicycles into electric bikes, offering enhanced power and control for various terrains, including mountain, road, city, and fat tire bikes. These kits feature advanced technology for a smoother, more comfortable ride with gradual acceleration.
Safety Precautions
- Always wear a helmet and appropriate safety gear when riding an ebike.
- Ensure all components are securely fastened before each ride.
- Do not operate the ebike in heavy rain or immerse the motor in water.
- Familiarize yourself with local ebike regulations and laws.
- Perform regular checks on brakes, tires, and electrical connections.
- Keep hands and clothing clear of moving parts during operation.

Compatibility Check
Before installation, verify your bicycle's compatibility with the BAFANG mid-drive kit. The kit is designed to fit most mountain, commute, and road bikes, but specific measurements are crucial.
Motor Compatibility
Confirm the bottom bracket (BB) size of your bike. The motor fits BB sizes with a diameter of 34-36mm (1.34"-1.42") and a length of 68-73mm (2.68"-2.87") or 85-105mm (3.35"-4.13").
- Bottom Bracket Length: 68-73mm.
- Bottom Bracket Diameter: 34-36mm.
- Speed Sensor Spacing: Ensure sufficient space for the speed sensor, typically less than 4mm from the magnet.

Incompatible Bike Types
The BAFANG mid-drive kit is not compatible with the following bicycle types:
- Belt drive bikes.
- Coaster brake bikes.
- Bikes with bottom bracket inner diameter outside 33.5-36mm.

Battery Compatibility
The updated M325 motor removes communication protocol restrictions, allowing compatibility with various battery brands. For downtube batteries, ensure sufficient frame space using a cutout template. For rear rack batteries, check for installation screw holes on your rear fork and measure the rear fork size (typically 150-160mm).

Setup and Installation
The BAFANG ebike conversion kit is designed for straightforward installation. Refer to the included installation video and manual for detailed steps. Below is an overview of the components and general installation points.
What's in the Box (Packing List)

General Installation Steps
- Prepare the Bicycle: Remove the existing bottom bracket, crankset, and chain.
- Install the Motor: Mount the BAFANG mid-drive motor into the bottom bracket shell. Secure it using the provided hoop design for stability.
- Install Crankset and Chainring: Attach the new crankset and chainring to the motor.
- Mount Display and Controls: Install the display, throttle, and brake levers/sensors on the handlebars.
- Connect Wiring: Connect all electrical components (motor, battery, display, throttle, brake sensors, speed sensor, lights) using the 1T4 cable and extension cords. Ensure connections are secure and waterproof.
- Install Speed Sensor: Mount the speed sensor on the rear chainstay and align the magnet on a spoke.
- Install Battery: Securely mount the battery (downtube or rear rack) to the bicycle frame.
- Final Checks: Double-check all connections, ensure cables are neatly routed and secured, and test all functions before riding.

Brake Lever or Brake Sensor
The kit typically includes default brake levers. If your bike's existing brake system is incompatible (e.g., shift-integrated brake handles or hydraulic disc brakes that cannot be replaced), contact support for a brake sensor option.

Operating Instructions
Riding Modes
The BAFANG ebike conversion kit offers four primary riding modes:
- E-bike Mode: Pure electric power, controlled by the throttle.
- Pedal Assisted Mode (PAS): Motor provides assistance as you pedal. The level of assistance can be adjusted via the display.
- Walk Assist Mode: Provides low-speed motor assistance for walking the bike.
- Pure Pedal Bicycle: Motor assistance is off, and the bike functions as a standard bicycle.
The motor features a moderate acceleration program, ensuring a smooth and gradual increase in speed and power, which is ideal for new riders while still providing robust performance for climbing.
Digital Display Usage
The optional digital display provides essential information and allows control over riding modes and settings. Common features include speed, battery level, assist level, and trip distance. Some displays offer advanced features like navigation and smartphone app connectivity.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your BAFANG ebike conversion kit.
- Cleaning: Clean the motor and battery with a damp cloth. Avoid high-pressure washing directly on electrical components.
- Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections for tightness and corrosion.
- Battery Care:
- Charge the battery regularly, even when not in use, to maintain its health.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
- Mechanical Parts: Lubricate the chain and check brake pads and tire pressure regularly, as you would with a standard bicycle.
- Professional Inspection: Consider having your ebike inspected by a qualified technician annually.

Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For more complex problems, please contact customer support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Motor not providing assistance. | Battery low or disconnected; display off; assist level set to zero; loose motor connection. | Check battery charge and connection; turn on display; increase assist level; inspect motor wiring. |
| Display not turning on. | Battery low or disconnected; loose display cable. | Ensure battery is charged and connected; check display cable connection. |
| Brakes not engaging properly. | Worn brake pads; loose brake cables; brake sensor issue. | Inspect and replace brake pads; adjust brake cables; if using brake sensors, ensure they are correctly installed and functioning. If default brake levers are incompatible, contact support for brake sensors. |
| Unusual noises from motor. | Loose components; foreign object; internal motor issue. | Check for loose bolts or debris; if noise persists, contact support. |
