5.2 App Download and Account Creation
- Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app from your smartphone's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store).
- Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
5.3 Device Pairing
- Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. The sensor does not support 5GHz WiFi.
- Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
- Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
- Select "Security & Video Surveillance" > "PIR Detector" or search for "Motion Sensor".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to put the sensor into pairing mode (usually involves pressing and holding a reset button until an indicator light flashes).
- Confirm the indicator light is flashing rapidly in the app and enter your 2.4GHz WiFi password.
- Wait for the device to connect. Once connected, you can rename the sensor and assign it to a room.
5.4 Mounting the Sensor
- Choose a suitable location for mounting. Consider areas where human movement is expected, such as hallways, entryways, or rooms.
- Ensure the chosen location is within the sensor's detection range (up to 6 meters) and has a clear line of sight.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly.
- Peel off the protective film from the double-sided adhesive provided.
- Attach the adhesive to the back of the sensor and then firmly press the sensor onto the desired wall or surface.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Remote Monitoring via App
Once paired, you can monitor the sensor's status and receive alerts directly on your smartphone through the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. The app will display real-time notifications when motion or presence is detected.
6.2 Adjusting Sensor Parameters
Within the app, navigate to the sensor's settings to customize its behavior:
- PIR Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level (e.g., Low, Middle, High) to prevent false alarms or ensure detection of subtle movements.
- Keep Time (Cooldown Time): Set the duration for which the sensor remains in a 'triggered' state after detection. This prevents repeated triggers within a short period. The shortest setting can be 30 seconds, and the longest 120 seconds.
- Motion Alarm: Enable or disable motion detection alerts.
- Lower Battery Notification: Turn on/off alerts for low battery status.
- SMS/Phone Notification: Configure additional notification methods (may require subscription or specific regional services).

6.3 Scene Linkage with Other Smart Devices
Leverage the Tuya ecosystem to create smart scenes:
- In the app, go to the "Smart" or "Automation" section.
- Create a new automation.
- Set the condition: "When device status changes" > select your motion sensor > "Motion detected".
- Set the action: "Run the device" > select another Tuya-compatible device (e.g., a smart light, smart curtain, or smart alarm) > define the action (e.g., "Turn On", "Open").
- Save the automation.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Replacement
When you receive a low battery notification from the app, or if the sensor's performance degrades, replace the AAA Alkaline batteries promptly. Refer to Section 5.1 for battery installation instructions.
7.2 Cleaning
To ensure optimal performance, periodically clean the sensor's lens with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the device.
8. Troubleshooting
- Sensor not detecting motion:
- Check battery level in the app and replace if low.
- Ensure the sensor is mounted correctly and has a clear line of sight.
- Adjust PIR sensitivity settings in the app to a higher level.
- Be aware of the cooldown time (Keep Time) setting. If the sensor was recently triggered, it will not re-trigger until the cooldown period has passed. This is normal operation.
- Frequent false alarms:
- Adjust PIR sensitivity settings in the app to a lower level.
- Ensure the sensor is not facing direct sunlight, heat sources, or areas with significant air currents (e.g., near vents), which can cause false triggers.
- Sensor offline in app:
- Check your home's 2.4GHz WiFi network status.
- Ensure the sensor is within range of your WiFi router.
- Check battery level and replace if necessary.
- Try restarting the sensor by removing and reinserting batteries.
- If issues persist, try re-pairing the device with the app (refer to Section 5.3).

9. Important Notes and Safety Information
- This device requires a 2.4GHz WiFi network for connectivity. It is not compatible with 5GHz WiFi networks.
- The sensor has a built-in cooldown time (Keep Time) after each detection. During this period, the sensor will not re-trigger, even if further motion is detected. This is a standard feature to conserve battery life and prevent excessive notifications. The cooldown time can be adjusted in the app from 30 to 120 seconds.
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
- Keep the device away from strong electromagnetic fields.
- This device is intended for indoor use only.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Contact customer support if issues arise.
10. Warranty and Support
