1. Introduction
Welcome to the user manual for your Tapo 4K Outdoor Solar-Powered Pan/Tilt Cameras (C660 KIT) and Smart Hub (H500) Bundle. 2. Components Included
Before you begin, please verify that all components are present in your package:
- 2 x Tapo C660 4K Outdoor Pan/Tilt Cameras
- 2 x Solar Panels
- 1 x Tapo H500 Smart Hub
- Mounting Hardware (screws, anchors, mounting templates)
- Power Adapter for Smart Hub

3. Setup Guide
3.1. Initial Preparation
- Download the Tapo App: Search for "Tapo" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install the application on your smartphone.
- Create a Tapo Account: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new account or log in if you already have one.
3.2. Smart Hub (H500) Setup
- Power On: Connect the provided power adapter to the H500 Smart Hub and plug it into a power outlet. The LED indicator will turn solid green when ready.
- Connect to Network:
- Wired Connection: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the hub and the other end to a free port on your router.
- Wireless Connection: Follow the in-app instructions to connect the hub to your Wi-Fi network.
- Add Hub to App: In the Tapo app, tap the "+" icon, select "Hubs," and choose "H500." Follow the prompts to add the hub to your account.

3.3. Camera (C660) Installation
The Tapo C660 cameras offer flexible installation thanks to their built-in battery and solar panel charging.
- Charge Cameras: Fully charge the cameras using a USB-C cable (not included, but common) before initial installation to ensure optimal battery performance.
- Select Mounting Location: Choose a location that provides the desired viewing angle and receives ample direct sunlight for the solar panel. Ensure the camera is within range of your H500 Smart Hub.
- Mount the Camera:
- Use the provided mounting template to mark drill holes.
- Drill holes and insert wall anchors if necessary.
- Secure the camera mounting bracket to the wall using the screws.
- Attach the camera to the bracket.
- Mount the Solar Panel:
- Mount the solar panel in a location that maximizes sun exposure throughout the day.
- Connect the solar panel cable to the camera's charging port.
- Adjust the angle of the solar panel for optimal charging.

3.4. Adding Cameras to the Tapo App
- Pair Cameras: In the Tapo app, navigate to your H500 Smart Hub. Tap "Add Device" or the "+" icon to add a new camera.
- Follow In-App Prompts: The app will guide you through the pairing process, which typically involves pressing a sync button on the camera or scanning a QR code.
- Configure Settings: Once paired, you can name your camera, set up motion detection zones, and adjust other preferences.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Live View and Playback
Access real-time video feeds and review recorded footage through the Tapo app.
- Live View: From the app's home screen, tap on a camera to view its live feed. You can pinch to zoom (up to 18x digital zoom) and use the pan/tilt controls.
- Playback: Tap the "Playback" icon on the live view screen to access recorded events. The timeline will show detected activities.

4.2. Pan and Tilt Control
The C660 cameras offer extensive pan and tilt capabilities to cover a wide area.
- Control: In the live view, swipe on the video feed or use the directional controls to pan (360° horizontal) and tilt (114° vertical) the camera.
- Preset Positions: Set and save specific viewing angles for quick access.

4.3. AI Detection and Smart Features
Leverage advanced AI for accurate detection and smart home integration.
- Person/Vehicle/Pet Detection: Configure the camera to detect specific types of motion and receive relevant alerts.
- Facial Recognition: Manage known individuals and receive alerts for strangers.
- Activity Zones: Define specific areas within the camera's view where motion detection should be active.
- Two-Way Talk: Use the built-in microphone and speaker on the camera (via the hub) to communicate with visitors or deter intruders.
- Alarm and Chime: The H500 Smart Hub features a 110dB alarm for intrusions and can act as a doorbell chime when paired with compatible Tapo doorbells.
- Night Vision: The C660 cameras offer color night vision with an F1.6 lens, starlight sensor, and spotlights for clear images in low light.

5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning
- Camera Lens: Gently wipe the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear image quality. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Solar Panel: Periodically clean the surface of the solar panel to remove dust, dirt, or debris that may reduce charging efficiency.
- Device Surfaces: Wipe the exterior of the cameras and hub with a damp cloth as needed.
5.2. Battery and Solar Charging Management
Monitor and optimize your camera's power performance.
- Solar Charging Dashboard: Use the Tapo app to track daily solar charging and battery performance.
- Adjust Solar Panel: If charging efficiency is low, adjust the solar panel's angle to maximize direct sunlight exposure.
- Battery Life: The built-in rechargeable battery offers up to 180 days of performance on a single charge under optimal conditions. Factors like frequent motion detection, live view usage, and extreme temperatures can affect battery life.
5.3. Storage Management
The H500 Smart Hub provides ample local storage.

- Expandable Storage: You can expand storage up to 16TB by connecting an external HDD/SSD drive to the hub. Refer to the Tapo app for instructions on formatting and managing external storage.

6. Troubleshooting
6.1. Camera Not Connecting/Offline
- Check Hub Connection: Ensure the H500 Smart Hub is powered on and connected to your network (either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi).
- Camera Battery: Verify the camera has sufficient battery charge.
- Signal Strength: Ensure the camera is within range of the H500 Smart Hub. Relocate if necessary.
- Reboot Devices: Try restarting both the camera and the H500 Smart Hub.
- Re-pair Camera: If issues persist, try removing the camera from the app and re-pairing it.
6.2. Poor Video Quality
- Clean Lens: Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from smudges or dirt.
