Setup

1. Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the smart digital base and the wireless probe. The probe charges when inserted into the base. The base requires a USB-C charger (included). If the device fails to power on after charging, press the reset button to activate the battery, then recharge it.

2. App Download and Pairing

Download the official BBQOVN app from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your smart digital base and probe via WiFi. The app will guide you through the connection process.

Operating Instructions

1. Probe Insertion

Insert the wireless probe into the thickest part of the food, ensuring the portion up to the arrow is inside the meat. The probe features 7 NIST-certified temperature sensors for accurate readings at different depths, along with an ambient temperature sensor.

2. Using the Smart Digital Base

The smart digital base displays real-time cooking and ambient temperatures. You can set target temperatures directly on the base using the 'SET', 'OK', '+', and '-' buttons. The base will provide audible alerts when the target temperature is reached.

3. Using the Smart App Assistant

The BBQOVN app provides advanced monitoring capabilities:

  • Unlimited Range Monitoring: With internet access, monitor your cooking from anywhere. The industrial-grade Sub-1G wireless technology offers a stable connection over long distances (70 to 600 ft, up to 3000 ft in ideal conditions) between the probe and the smart base.
  • Pre-set Programs: Select desired doneness levels for various food types.
  • Flipping Algorithm: Receive alerts when it's time to flip your steak for even cooking.
  • Real-time Tracking & Alerts: View current temperatures, estimated remaining cooking time, and receive notifications on your phone, smart base, and watch when cooking is done.

Maintenance

Cleaning

The probe is made of food-grade 304 stainless steel and is IP68 waterproof. Wipe clean with a damp cloth after each use. Do not immerse the smart digital base in water.

Storage

If storing the thermometer for an extended period, ensure it is recharged at least once every 3-5 months to maintain battery health.

Troubleshooting

  • Device Fails to Power On After Charging: If the smart base does not turn on, press the reset button to activate the battery, then recharge it.
  • Unstable Connection: The thermometer utilizes industrial-grade Sub-1G wireless technology for a stable connection. Ensure the smart base is within the recommended range of the probe (70-600 ft, up to 3000 ft in ideal conditions) and that there are no excessive physical obstructions.
