5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Basic 3-Step Operation
The AlgoLaser Pixi simplifies the engraving process into three easy steps:

- Select/Download an Image: Choose a design from the built-in image library, import from an SD card, or create a new design using AlgoSketch or AlgoType.
- Set Parameters: Adjust engraving settings such as material type, quality, power, and mode (e.g., scan, line). The AlgoOS 2.0 system offers preset parameters for various materials.
- Tap "Start": Initiate the engraving process. The machine will preview the engraving area before starting.
5.2. Engraving Modes
- AlgoSketch: Use the touch screen and stylus for on-screen drawing and writing.
- AlgoType: Input custom text directly on the screen for personalized engravings.
- Image Import: Load images from an SD card or via wireless connection.
5.3. Material Compatibility
The AlgoLaser Pixi can engrave and cut over 300 types of materials, including wood, acrylic, leather, paper, cardboard, and more. Always test on a scrap piece of material first to determine optimal settings.
5.4. Adjustable Z-axis and Removable Base
The machine features a removable base and an adjustable Z-axis (up to 134mm) to accommodate larger or irregularly shaped objects.

To engrave on larger items, remove the base by unscrewing the four thumbscrews on the rear of the machine. This allows the main unit to be placed directly over the object.
5.5. Rotary Accessories for Cylindrical Engraving
The AlgoLaser Pixi is compatible with optional rotary accessories (ARR rollers) for engraving cylindrical objects like tumblers and pens.

Connect the rotary accessory to the Expansion Port on the rear of the machine. Adjust the Z-axis as needed for proper focus on the cylindrical surface.
5.6. Dual-Sided Base
The working base is dual-sided: one side is flat for general engraving, and the other has grooves for improved airflow during cutting operations, which helps prevent charring and ensures cleaner cuts.

5.7. General Operation Overview
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning the Laser Module
Regularly clean the laser lens and surrounding area to ensure optimal performance. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol if necessary. Avoid abrasive materials.
6.2. Fan Maintenance
The exhaust fan on the rear of the machine helps dissipate heat and fumes. Periodically check the fan for dust buildup and clean it gently with a brush or compressed air to maintain efficient operation.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1. Common Issues and Solutions
- Machine Not Powering On: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the power switch is in the 'ON' position. Check the power outlet.
- Engraving Not Starting: Verify that the lid is fully closed. Check for any error messages on the touch screen. Ensure the focal length is correctly set.
- Poor Engraving Quality: Adjust the engraving parameters (power, speed, passes) according to the material. Ensure the focal length is accurate. Clean the laser lens if it appears dirty.
- "Homing Required" Message: This indicates the machine needs to reset its home position. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the homing process.
- Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Ensure the machine is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Re-enter the Wi-Fi password if necessary.
