4. Assembly

The PowerSmart Electric Pressure Washer is designed for straightforward assembly. Some components may require a few wrenches for secure connection.

  1. Attach the handle assembly to the main unit.
  2. Connect the high-pressure hose to the pressure washer outlet and the trigger gun. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
  3. Connect your garden hose to the water inlet on the pressure washer.
  4. Attach the desired nozzle to the trigger gun. The unit features an all-in-one adjustable nozzle for various spray patterns.
  5. If using detergent, fill the foam cannon/soap tank with appropriate pressure washer detergent and attach it to the trigger gun.

5. Operation

5.1 Initial Setup

  • Place the pressure washer on a stable, level surface.
  • Connect the garden hose to a water supply and turn on the water fully.
  • Squeeze the trigger gun to purge air from the system until a steady stream of water emerges. This protects the pump.
  • Plug the 35' power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

5.2 Starting the Unit

  • Turn on the power switch located on the unit. The motor will start briefly and then shut off once pressure is built.
  • Point the nozzle away from yourself and others, then squeeze the trigger to begin spraying. The motor will run continuously while the trigger is depressed.
  • Release the trigger to stop the water flow. The motor will automatically shut off to preserve pump life.

5.3 Using the Adjustable Nozzle

The PowerSmart PS20201 features an all-in-one adjustable nozzle, eliminating the need for multiple tips. Rotate the nozzle head to switch between different spray patterns, from a concentrated 0° direct stream for tough spots to a wide 40° fan spray for broader cleaning.

5.4 Detergent Application (Foam Cannon)

  • Fill the foam cannon with pressure washer safe detergent.
  • Attach the foam cannon to the trigger gun.
  • Ensure the nozzle is set to a low-pressure setting (often indicated by a wider spray or specific detergent setting on the adjustable nozzle).
  • Spray detergent onto the surface to be cleaned. Allow it to soak for a few minutes before rinsing.
  • After applying detergent, remove the foam cannon and reattach the standard nozzle for rinsing.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your pressure washer.

  • After Each Use:
    • Turn off the water supply and power switch.
    • Squeeze the trigger gun to release any remaining pressure in the system.
    • Disconnect the garden hose and high-pressure hose.
    • Drain any remaining water from the pump by tilting the unit.
    • Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth.
  • Nozzle Cleaning: If the nozzle becomes clogged, use the included nozzle cleaning tool (if applicable) or a small wire to clear any debris.
  • Inlet Filter: Periodically check and clean the water inlet filter to prevent debris from entering the pump.

7. Storage

Proper storage is crucial, especially in colder climates.

  • Store the pressure washer in a dry, indoor location where temperatures will not drop below freezing. Freezing water inside the pump can cause severe damage.
  • Drain all water from the unit, hoses, and accessories before storing. Consider using a pump protector/antifreeze solution if storing in an unheated area.
  • Coil the high-pressure hose and power cord neatly and store them on the designated hangers on the unit.
  • Store the trigger gun and nozzles securely to prevent loss or damage.
