1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your RETROSUN Adjustable Bed Remote Control Replacement. This remote is designed to be compatible with Serta Motion Perfect 4 (IV) and Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Ergo RF398A adjustable bed bases. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper functionality and to maximize the lifespan of your remote control.
2. Setup
2.1 Battery Installation
The remote control requires three (3) AAA batteries (not included) for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

- Slide open the battery cover located on the back of the remote control.
- Insert three new AAA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery cover securely.
2.2 Pairing the Remote Control
The remote control must be paired with your adjustable bed base before first use. Follow these steps carefully:

- Step 1: Locate the Battery Backup Box on your adjustable bed base. Press the button on the Battery Backup Box TWICE. A light on the Battery Backup Box will illuminate.
- Step 2: On the back of the remote control, under the battery cover, press and hold down the PAIR button. The PAIR button will illuminate blue and start flashing.
- Step 3: Continue holding the PAIR button until it stops flashing and the illuminated light on the Battery Backup Box goes out. Release the PAIR button.
- Step 4: Test all remote functions. If the remote buttons do not control the adjustable base movements, repeat the pairing process.
Note: If the remote was previously paired and is not responding, ensure the Child Lock feature is not active. Refer to section 3.2 for Child Lock instructions.
3. Operating the Remote Control
3.1 Basic Functions
The remote control allows you to adjust various positions of your adjustable bed base. Specific button functions include:
- Head Up/Down: Adjusts the head section of the bed.
- Foot Up/Down: Adjusts the foot section of the bed.
- Massage: Activates or adjusts the massage function (if available on your bed base). Note: This remote features a massage button, unlike some 3rd generation remotes which may have a zero gravity button in this position.
- Zero G: Activates the Zero Gravity preset position.
- Flat: Returns the bed to a flat position.
- Memory Presets: Buttons for saving and recalling preferred positions.

3.2 Child Lock Feature
The remote control includes a Child Lock feature to prevent accidental adjustments. Follow these steps to activate or deactivate it:

- Activate Child Lock: Press and hold the HEAD UP and HEAD DOWN buttons together for approximately six (6) seconds. The remote backlight will flash six times. When the backlight light goes away, the remote is now in Child Lock. Pressing any buttons while in Child Lock will yield no movement to your adjustable base.
- Deactivate Child Lock: Press and hold the FOOT UP and FOOT DOWN buttons together for approximately six (6) seconds. The remote backlight will flash twice. When the backlight light goes away, the remote is no longer in Child Lock, and the remote and adjustable base will work normally.
4. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the remote control with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or inconsistent. Always replace all three batteries at the same time with new ones.
- Storage: Store the remote in a dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
5. Troubleshooting
- Remote not responding to bed movements:
- Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
- Ensure the remote is properly paired with the bed base. Repeat the pairing process (Section 2.2).
- Verify that the Child Lock feature is not activated (Section 3.2).
- Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the bed base's receiver.
- Remote backlight not working:
- Check battery charge. Low batteries may affect backlight functionality.
