Abaodam GTX5030 Underground Metal Detector User Manual

Model: GTX5030

Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Abaodam GTX5030 Underground Metal Detector. Designed for detecting various metals including gold, jewelry, and silver, this device features high sensitivity and two distinct operating modes. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the detector to ensure proper function and to maximize your treasure hunting experience.

1. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your metal detector:

  1. Attach the Search Coil: Connect the search coil to the lower stem. Ensure the cable is securely wrapped around the stem to prevent tangling during use.
  2. Connect the Stems: Insert the lower stem into the middle stem, and then connect the middle stem to the upper stem (control box assembly). Adjust the length as needed for comfortable operation.
  3. Install Batteries: The detector requires two 9V (6F22) batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the control box, insert the batteries with correct polarity, and close the compartment securely.
  4. Connect Search Coil Cable: Plug the search coil cable connector into the corresponding port on the control box.
  5. Adjust Armrest: Position the armrest for comfortable use, ensuring it supports your forearm during extended periods of detection.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Controls Overview

  • POWER OFF: Turns the detector on or off.
  • SENS (Sensitivity): Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to metal objects. Higher sensitivity detects smaller or deeper objects but may also pick up more interference.
  • DISC (Discrimination): Allows the detector to ignore certain types of metal (e.g., iron) and focus on more valuable targets.
  • VOLUME: Adjusts the loudness of the speaker or connected headphones.
  • LOW BAT: Indicator light for low battery status.
  • EAR (Earphone Jack): Port for connecting headphones (not included) for private listening or in noisy environments.
  • TARGET INDICATOR: Mechanical pointer display that indicates the presence and relative strength of a detected metal target.

2.2 Operating Modes

The GTX5030 offers two primary operating modes:

  • All-Metal Mode: Detects all types of metal. This mode offers the deepest detection and is ideal for general treasure hunting when you want to find any metallic object.
  • Recognition Mode (Discrimination Mode): Allows you to discriminate against unwanted metals. By adjusting the DISC knob, you can filter out common trash metals like iron, focusing on more desirable targets.

2.3 Basic Operation

  1. Power On: Turn the POWER OFF knob clockwise to the ON position. The detector will emit a short tone.
  2. Adjust Sensitivity: Start with the SENS knob at a medium setting. If the detector is unstable or produces false signals, reduce the sensitivity. Increase sensitivity for deeper detection.
  3. Select Mode: Choose between All-Metal mode or Recognition mode based on your search preference. Adjust the DISC knob if using Recognition mode.
  4. Sweep the Search Coil: Hold the detector comfortably and sweep the search coil slowly and steadily from side to side, keeping it parallel to the ground and about 1-2 inches above the surface.
  5. Identify Targets: When a metal object is detected, the mechanical pointer will swing, and an audible alarm will sound. The strength of the signal indicates the proximity and size of the object.
  6. Waterproof Search Coil: The search coil is waterproof, allowing for detection in shallow water. Ensure the control box is kept dry.

3. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the search coil is clean of dirt and debris.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the detector will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly check all cables and connections for signs of wear or damage.

4. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No powerDead or incorrectly installed batteries.Replace batteries with new 9V (6F22) batteries. Check polarity.
Detector beeps constantly or erraticallyHigh sensitivity setting; electrical interference; mineralized ground.Reduce SENS setting. Move away from power lines or other electronic devices. Lift search coil slightly.
No detection of metal objectsLow sensitivity; incorrect discrimination setting; object too deep or small.Increase SENS. Switch to All-Metal mode. Ensure search coil is close to the ground.
Low battery indicator (LOW BAT) is onBatteries are low.Replace both 9V (6F22) batteries immediately.
