6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Acceptable Food Waste

The FRYLINE Electric Composter is designed to process most common kitchen food scraps.

  • Fruit and vegetable scraps (peels, cores, small pieces)
  • Cooked food (small amounts, non-oily)
  • Coffee grounds and tea bags
  • Eggshells
  • Small bones (e.g., chicken bones, fish bones)
  • Bread and grains

6.2 Unacceptable Food Waste

Do NOT place the following items into the composter:

  • Large bones (e.g., beef, pork)
  • Hard pits (e.g., avocado, peach)
  • Excessive liquids or oils
  • Dairy products in large quantities
  • Plastics, glass, metal, paper, or other non-food items
  • Chemicals or cleaning agents

6.3 Basic Operation

  1. Fill: Open the lid and add food scraps to the processing bucket. Do not overfill; ensure the lid can close securely. For optimal results, chop larger items into smaller pieces.
  2. Close Lid: Ensure the lid is properly closed and locked.
  3. Select Mode: Press the Power button to turn on the unit. Then, select your desired processing mode:
    • Crush Mode (3-8 hours): For general food waste, drying and grinding into a fine material.
    • Ferment Mode (12-17.5 hours): For more thorough breakdown and fermentation, suitable for creating a richer pre-compost.
  4. Start Cycle: The composter will begin its cycle. It operates quietly, typically below 40dB.
  5. Cycle Completion: Once the cycle is complete, the unit will beep and indicator lights may flash.
  6. Empty: Open the lid, remove the processing bucket, and empty the processed material. This material can be added to garden soil, potted plants, or an outdoor compost pile.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

7.1 Cleaning the Processing Bucket

The removable processing bucket is dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. Alternatively, it can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. Ensure it is completely dry before placing it back into the main unit.

7.2 Cleaning the Main Unit

Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main unit in water.

7.3 Carbon Filter Replacement

The composter is equipped with a large capacity carbon filter designed to last approximately 1000 hours. The unit will alert you when the filter needs replacement to ensure continued odor-free operation.
