Breitling Triumph B01 Top Time User Manual

Model: AB01764A1C1X1

1. Introduction

The Breitling Triumph B01 Top Time is an exceptional self-winding mechanical chronograph timepiece, a result of the collaboration between Breitling and British motorcycle icon Triumph. This watch features an ice-blue dial inspired by a 1951 Triumph Thunderbird 6T and a rare, blue-dialed Breitling Top Time Ref. 815 from the 1970s. It incorporates vintage design elements such as a retro logo, mushroom chronograph pushers, and a 'Zorro' dial design with a subtle bowtie motif. The metal brushing technique and Triumph emblem at 6 o'clock, along with the tachymeter scale and contrasting 'squircle' subdials, evoke a vintage dashboard feel. This manual provides essential information for the proper use, care, and maintenance of your Triumph B01 Top Time watch.

2. Setup and Initial Operation

2.1 Winding the Watch

Your Breitling Triumph B01 Top Time is equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement. While wearing the watch regularly will keep it wound, if the watch has stopped or its power reserve is low, it can be manually wound. To do so, unscrew the crown (if it's a screw-down crown) and turn it clockwise approximately 40 times. This will provide sufficient power to start the watch and build up the power reserve.

2.2 Setting the Time

  1. Unscrew the crown (if applicable) and pull it out to the time-setting position (usually the outermost position).
  2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hands and set the desired time.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back in and screw it down tightly (if applicable) to ensure water resistance.

3. Operating the Chronograph Function

The chronograph function allows you to measure elapsed time. Your watch features mushroom chronograph pushers for operation.

3.1 Starting and Stopping the Chronograph

  1. Press the upper pusher (A) to start the chronograph. The central chronograph seconds hand will begin to move.
  2. Press the upper pusher (A) again to stop the chronograph. The central chronograph seconds hand and the minute/hour counter subdials will show the elapsed time.

3.2 Resetting the Chronograph

  • After stopping the chronograph, press the lower pusher (B) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
  • Note: Do not press the reset pusher (B) while the chronograph is running, as this can damage the movement.

3.3 Using the Tachymeter Scale

The tachymeter scale on the outer rim of the dial can be used to measure speed over a known distance (e.g., 1 kilometer or 1 mile). Start the chronograph at the beginning of the distance and stop it at the end. The number on the tachymeter scale indicated by the central chronograph seconds hand will show the average speed in units per hour.

4. Maintenance and Care

  • Water Resistance: Your watch has a water resistance of 10 bars (100 meters / 330 feet). This makes it suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not for diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in and screwed down (if applicable) before exposing the watch to water. Avoid operating the pushers underwater.
  • Cleaning: Clean your watch regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For metal bracelets and water-resistant cases, you can use a soft brush and soapy water, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth. For leather straps, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing your watch to sudden temperature changes or extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F).
  • Magnetic Fields: Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields, such as those produced by speakers, refrigerators, or certain electronic devices, as they can affect the accuracy of the movement.
  • Servicing: For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to have your Breitling watch serviced by an authorized service center every 3-5 years.
