3. Product Features

4. Setup and Installation

  1. Prepare the Mounting Surface: Clean the area on your windshield where you intend to mount the dash cam. Ensure it is free from dust and grease for optimal adhesive performance.
  2. Attach the Mount: Peel off the protective film from the 3M adhesive on the dash cam mount. Firmly press the mount onto the chosen spot on your windshield, ideally behind the rearview mirror for discreet placement.
  3. Insert Micro SD Card: The 32GB U3 Micro SD card is pre-installed. If you need to replace it, ensure the dash cam is powered off before inserting or removing the card to prevent data corruption.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the charging cable into the dash cam's USB-C port and the car charger into your vehicle's power outlet (cigarette lighter port). Route the cable along the windshield trim to keep it tidy and out of the way.
  5. Adjust Camera Angle: Once mounted and powered, adjust the camera lens to capture the desired view of the road ahead.
  6. Download GoLook App: Scan the QR code in the user manual or search for "GoLook" in your smartphone's app store (Google Play or Apple App Store).
  7. Connect via Wi-Fi: Follow the in-app instructions to connect your smartphone to the dash cam's built-in Wi-Fi network. The default password is typically "12345678".

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

  • Automatic Recording: The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle's engine starts.
  • Voice Prompts: The device provides voice alerts to inform you of its operational status (e.g., "Start recording").

5.2 Using the GoLook App

The GoLook app provides full control and access to your dash cam's features:

  • Live Preview: View real-time footage from the dash cam on your smartphone.
  • Video Playback: Access and play back recorded videos stored on the Micro SD card.
  • Download & Share: Download video clips directly to your phone and share them as needed.
  • Settings: Adjust various settings such as video resolution, loop recording duration (1/3/5 minutes), G-Sensor sensitivity (off/low/middle/high), and parking monitoring options.

5.3 G-Sensor and Emergency Recording

The G-Sensor detects sudden movements or impacts. When a collision is detected, the dash cam automatically locks the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical evidence is preserved.

5.4 Parking Monitoring

With the optional hardwire kit (ASIN: B0F8QMWB7Q), the DR-1 can provide 24/7 parking surveillance. After the engine is turned off, it automatically switches to time-lapse recording (1 frame per second) to monitor your vehicle continuously.

6. Maintenance

  • Clean the Lens: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, dry cloth to ensure clear video quality.
  • Check SD Card: Periodically check the Micro SD card for proper functionality and ensure it is not full (unless emergency recordings are locked). Format the card via the app if needed.
  • Temperature Range: Operate the unit within a temperature range of 14°F - 140°F (-10°C - 60°C).

7. Troubleshooting

  • Dash Cam not powering on: Ensure the charging cable is securely connected to both the dash cam and the car's power outlet. Check the vehicle's power outlet for functionality.
  • App unable to connect to settings: Verify that your phone's GoLook APP has location, WLAN, and cellular data menu options enabled. Ensure you are connected to the dash cam's Wi-Fi network.
  • Video stuttering/black screens: Ensure you are using a C10 or higher Micro SD card. Lower-speed cards may result in recording issues.
  • Dash cam not recording: Check if the Micro SD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient space. Format the card if necessary.
