Setup and First Use
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the coffee maker for any damage.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the thermal carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning):
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 8-cup mark.
- Place an empty cone filter (e.g., Melitta #4) into the filter basket.
- Place the thermal carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
- Press the power button to start a brew cycle without coffee grounds.
- Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe and the filter.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid of the water reservoir and fill it with fresh, cold water to your desired number of cups (up to 8 cups). The water level indicator on the side will assist you.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place a Melitta #4 cone coffee filter into the removable filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee. A general guideline is one level tablespoon of coffee per cup, adjusted to personal preference.
- Position Carafe: Ensure the thermal carafe, with its lid securely in place, is positioned correctly on the warming plate.
- Select Strength (Optional): Use the control panel to select your preferred coffee strength (e.g., Regular, Bold). Refer to the control panel image for button identification.
- Start Brewing: Press the power button to begin the brewing cycle. The indicator light will illuminate.
- Pause & Serve: The coffee maker features a pause & serve function, allowing you to temporarily remove the carafe during brewing to pour a cup. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
- Completion: Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically shut off after a period of time to conserve energy. The double-walled thermal carafe is designed to keep the coffee warm for approximately 2 hours.

Setting the Clock and Programmable Brew Timer
- Set Current Time:
- Press the 'M' (Mode) button until the clock icon flashes.
- Use the 'H' (Hour) and 'M' (Minute) buttons to set the current time. The display is 24-hour format.
- Press 'M' again to confirm and exit time setting mode.
- Set Auto-Brew Time:
- Press the 'M' button until the timer icon flashes.
- Use the 'H' (Hour) and 'M' (Minute) buttons to set your desired brew start time.
- Press 'M' again to confirm. The timer indicator light will illuminate, indicating the auto-brew function is active.

Care and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Wash the thermal carafe, lid, and filter basket after each use with warm, soapy water. These parts are top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the coffee maker base, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 weeks).
- Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Do not exceed the 8-cup mark.
- Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket.
- Place the empty thermal carafe on the warming plate.
- Run a full brew cycle.
- After the cycle, turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15 minutes.
- Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe and filter.
- Rinse the coffee maker by running two full brew cycles with fresh, cold water only.
