Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the lid.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-). Do not use rechargeable batteries.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Liner Ring and Trash Bag Installation

  1. Lift the lid of the trash can.
  2. Place your trash bag into the designated compartment. The EKO Vintage 50L features a liner-free interior design to maximize capacity.
  3. Secure the top edge of the trash bag by wrapping it around the included liner ring.
  4. Place the liner ring with the secured trash bag back into the compartment, ensuring the bag is fully contained.

Operating Instructions

Motion Sensor Operation

The EKO Vintage 50L features advanced motion sensor technology for touchless operation:

  • Simply wave your hand over the sensor area on the lid. The lid will open in approximately 0.2 seconds.
  • The lid will automatically close after 5 seconds of inactivity.
  • The soft-close mechanism ensures silent, smooth, and gentle closing.

Manual Mode (Stay-Open Feature)

For longer tasks or when frequent disposal is needed, you can activate the manual stay-open mode:

  • Tap the OPEN button on the sensor panel to keep the lid open for 20 minutes.
  • To close the lid manually before 20 minutes, tap the CLOSE button.
  • To power the unit on or off, press and hold the CLOSE button for 3 seconds.

Dual Compartment Functionality

This trash can features two distinct compartments for efficient waste and recycling separation:

  • The larger compartment (8.45 gallons / 32L) is ideal for general waste.
  • The smaller compartment (4.75 gallons / 18L) is designed for recyclables, simplifying sorting.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior of the stainless steel body with a soft, damp cloth. The surface is fingerprint-resistant for easy maintenance.
  • For stubborn marks, use a mild stainless steel cleaner.
  • Clean the interior compartments with a mild detergent and water. Ensure they are completely dry before re-inserting trash bags.

Battery Replacement

Replace the 4 AA alkaline batteries when the sensor light indicates low power or the lid operation becomes sluggish. With normal use, batteries can last up to 8 months.

Troubleshooting
