8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Scanner does not power on.Loose connection; vehicle ignition off; vehicle not OBDII compliant; blown fuse in vehicle's OBDII port.Ensure cable is securely connected. Turn ignition to "ON". Verify vehicle is OBDII compliant (1996+). Check vehicle's fuse box for blown fuses related to the OBDII port.
Link Error / Communication Error.Faulty connection; vehicle's ECU not responding; incorrect protocol.Check cable connection. Turn ignition off, then on again. Try on another OBDII compliant vehicle. Ensure vehicle battery is adequately charged.
Bluetooth adapter not pairing.Bluetooth not enabled on device; incorrect pairing code; adapter not powered.Ensure Bluetooth is enabled. Re-enter pairing code (0000 or 1234). Check adapter's indicator lights to confirm power. Restart device and adapter.
Cannot clear codes.Ignition not "ON"; underlying fault still present; vehicle not supported.Ensure ignition is "ON" (engine off). Address the underlying issue causing the DTC before attempting to clear. Some specific vehicle models may have limitations.
