6. Calibration

Regular calibration is essential for maintaining the accuracy of your pH tester. The GX-pH03A supports multi-point calibration.

6.1. Required Calibration Solutions

For accurate calibration, you will need standard pH buffer solutions. Typically, pH 7.00 and pH 4.00 solutions are included. For a wider measurement range, a pH 10.00 solution may also be required and can be purchased separately.

6.2. Calibration Procedure

  1. Prepare the necessary pH buffer solutions (e.g., pH 7.00, pH 4.00).
  2. Turn on the pH tester.
  3. Rinse the electrode with distilled water and gently blot dry with a clean, lint-free tissue.
  4. Immerse the electrode into the pH 7.00 buffer solution.
  5. Press the CAL button. The device will automatically recognize the buffer and begin calibration. Wait for the display to indicate successful calibration (e.g., 'END' or a stable reading).
  6. Rinse the electrode again with distilled water.
  7. Immerse the electrode into the pH 4.00 buffer solution.
  8. Press the CAL button. Wait for the display to indicate successful calibration.
  9. If using a pH 10.00 solution, repeat steps 6 and 7 with the pH 10.00 buffer.
  10. After calibration, rinse the electrode and store it properly.

Note: Always calibrate your pH meter before first use, after prolonged storage, or if you suspect inaccurate readings.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Electrode Cleaning

After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water to remove any food residue. For stubborn residues, a mild detergent solution followed by a distilled water rinse can be used. Avoid abrasive materials that could damage the glass electrode.

7.2. Electrode Storage

Always replace the protective cap after use. Ensure the sponge inside the cap remains moist with electrode storage solution (or pH 7.00 buffer solution if storage solution is unavailable). Never store the electrode dry or in distilled water, as this can damage the sensor.

7.3. Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator on the LCD display shows low power, replace the LR44 batteries as described in Section 4.1.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
