  5. Access Web Interface or App: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1) or the default web address (e.g., wavlinklogin.com) to access the setup wizard. Alternatively, download the WavRouter App from your device's app store and follow the in-app instructions.
  6. Configure Settings: Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your internet connection, Wi-Fi network name (SSID), and password.

4.2 Adding Additional Mesh Units

To expand your network coverage, add the second mesh unit:

  1. Power On: Place the second mesh unit in a desired location within the coverage area of the primary unit and connect it to a power outlet. Turn it on.
  2. Initiate Pairing: On the primary mesh unit, press the Pair 2S button for 2 seconds. Do the same on the second mesh unit within 2 minutes.
  3. Wait for Connection: The units will automatically detect and pair with each other. The LED indicators will change to confirm a successful mesh connection.
  4. Verify Coverage: Once paired, the second unit will extend your existing Wi-Fi network seamlessly. You can verify the extended coverage using the WavRouter App.

5. Operating Modes

The WAVLINK AX3000 Mesh System supports multiple operating modes to suit different networking needs:

  • Mesh Router Mode: This is the default mode where the primary unit acts as a router, managing your network and providing Wi-Fi. Additional units extend this network as mesh nodes.
  • Access Point (AP) Mode: In AP mode, the mesh unit connects to an existing wired router and broadcasts a wireless network. This is useful for adding Wi-Fi capabilities to a wired network or extending an existing Wi-Fi network without creating a separate mesh.
  • Repeater Mode: This mode allows the mesh unit to extend the signal of an existing Wi-Fi network wirelessly, without a wired connection to the main router.

6. Advanced Features

The WAVLINK AX3000 Mesh System incorporates several advanced technologies to optimize network performance and user experience.

6.1 WiFi 6 Technology

Leveraging the latest WiFi 6 (802.11ax) standard, the system offers significant improvements over previous Wi-Fi generations, including:

  • OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access): Improves efficiency by allowing multiple devices to share a single channel, reducing latency and increasing throughput for small data packets.
  • MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output): Enables the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously, enhancing overall network capacity and speed.
  • Beamforming: Focuses the Wi-Fi signal directly towards connected devices, improving signal strength and range.
  • BSS Coloring: Reduces interference from neighboring Wi-Fi networks by uniquely identifying your network's data frames, allowing devices to ignore traffic from other networks.
  • Target Wake Time (TWT): Allows devices to negotiate when and how often they will wake up to send or receive data, conserving battery life for mobile devices and IoT gadgets.

6.3 Security and Control

  • WPA3 Encryption: Provides enhanced security for your wireless network, protecting against unauthorized access.
  • Parental Control: Allows you to manage and monitor internet activities for children, ensuring a safe online environment.
  • QoS (Quality of Service) Management: Prioritizes network traffic for specific applications or devices, ensuring optimal performance for critical tasks like gaming or video conferencing.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Firmware Updates

Regularly check for and install firmware updates to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Firmware updates can typically be performed via the WavRouter App or the web management interface.

  1. Access the WavRouter App or web interface.
  2. Navigate to the System or Administration section.
  3. Look for 'Firmware Update' or 'Software Upgrade'.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to check for and install any available updates. Do not power off the device during the update process.

7.2 Factory Reset

A factory reset will restore the mesh unit to its default settings. This can be useful for troubleshooting persistent issues or when reconfiguring the device.

  1. Ensure the mesh unit is powered on.
  2. Locate the RESET 6S button on the rear panel.
  3. Using a paperclip or a similar pointed object, press and hold the button for approximately 6 seconds until the LED indicators change.
  4. Release the button. The unit will reboot with factory default settings. You will need to reconfigure it as per the initial setup instructions.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your WAVLINK AX3000 Mesh System.

8.1 No Internet Access

  • Check Modem: Ensure your internet modem is working correctly and has an active internet connection.
  • Cable Connections: Verify that all Ethernet cables are securely connected between the modem and the primary mesh unit's Internet LAN/Backhaul port.
  • Reboot Devices: Power cycle your modem, then the primary mesh unit, and finally your connected devices.
  • ISP Settings: Confirm that your internet service provider (ISP) settings (e.g., PPPoE, DHCP) are correctly configured in the mesh unit's web interface or app.

8.2 Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Dead Zones

  • Unit Placement: Ensure mesh units are placed strategically to cover your desired area, avoiding physical obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects.
  • Interference: Keep mesh units away from devices that emit strong electromagnetic interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
  • Add More Units: For very large homes or complex layouts, consider adding more mesh units (if applicable to your system configuration).

8.3 Cannot Access Web Management Interface or App

  • Network Connection: Ensure your device is connected to the mesh system's Wi-Fi network or via an Ethernet cable to one of its LAN ports.
  • IP Address/URL: Double-check the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1) or web address (e.g., wavlinklogin.com).
  • Browser Cache: Clear your web browser's cache or try a different browser.
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.

8.4 Mesh Units Not Pairing

  • Proximity: Ensure the units are close enough during the initial pairing process (within a few meters).
  • Timing: Press the Pair 2S button on both units within the specified timeframe (usually 2 minutes).
  • Reset: If issues persist, perform a factory reset on both units and attempt pairing again.
