6. Food Storage Guidelines
Vacuum sealing significantly extends the shelf life of various foods by removing oxygen, which causes spoilage. Refer to the table below for estimated freshness durations.

Image 6.1: This chart illustrates how vacuum sealing can extend food freshness significantly compared to conventional storage methods.
| Food Type | Conventional Storage | Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer |
|---|---|---|
| Dried Fruit / Nuts | 2-3 Days | 25-30 Days |
| Seafood / Meat | 2-3 Days | 7 Days |
| Fruits / Vegetable | 1-2 Days | 3-5 Days |
Note: These are estimated times. Actual freshness may vary based on the initial quality of the food, storage temperature, and proper sealing technique.
7. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your vacuum sealer.
7.1 Cleaning the Appliance
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Clean the vacuum chamber and sealing strip with a damp cloth. Ensure no food particles or liquids remain.
- Dry all parts thoroughly before storing or next use.
7.2 Sealing Strip Care

Image 7.1: The high-temperature resistant sealing strip with an extra-layer heating wire ensures durable performance.
The sealing strip is a critical component. Ensure it is clean and free from debris. If the sealing strip becomes worn or damaged, it may affect the seal quality. The appliance features a high-temperature resistant sealing strip for durable performance.
7.3 Recommended Vacuum Bags

Image 7.2: For optimal performance, use Bonsenkitchen professional vacuum bags with a round texture, as other textures may not vacuum or seal effectively.
For best results and to ensure proper vacuuming and sealing, it is recommended to use Bonsenkitchen professional vacuum bags. These bags typically feature a specific texture (e.g., round texture) that allows for efficient air removal. Bags with rectangular, no texture, or double-sided textures may not perform as effectively.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Bonsenkitchen VS1900, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Appliance does not turn on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet and the 'Power' button is pressed.
- Appliance does not vacuum:
- Check if the lid is properly closed and latched on both sides.
- Ensure the open end of the bag is placed correctly within the vacuum chamber and over the sealing strip.
- Verify that the bag is suitable for vacuum sealing (e.g., textured bags for external vacuum sealers).
- Check for any wrinkles or debris on the sealing strip or within the vacuum chamber.
- Bag does not seal properly:
- Ensure the sealing strip is clean and dry.
- Allow the appliance to cool down for a few seconds between seals if performing multiple seals consecutively.
- Check for moisture or food particles on the inside of the bag near the sealing area.
- Ensure the bag material is compatible with heat sealing.
- Air leaks into the sealed bag:
- Inspect the bag for punctures or tears.
- Ensure the seal is complete and even. If not, re-seal the bag.
- For moist foods, ensure excess liquid is not drawn into the vacuum chamber, which can compromise the seal. Use the 'Pulse Vac' mode or pre-freeze moist items.
