Feasto BBQ Charcoal Grill Model CG3019 Instruction Manual
Your guide to assembly, operation, and maintenance.
1. Important Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before assembling, operating, or cleaning this charcoal grill. Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, explosion, property damage, or personal injury.
- Outdoor Use Only: This grill is designed for outdoor use only. Do not operate indoors or in enclosed spaces.
- Clearance: Maintain a minimum distance of 3 feet (0.9 meters) from combustible materials (e.g., houses, trees, fences, decks).
- Stable Surface: Always place the grill on a hard, level, non-combustible surface.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the grill at all times, especially during operation.
- Hot Surfaces: The grill will become very hot during use. Use heat-resistant gloves or mitts when handling hot components.
- Charcoal Safety: Use only charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal. Do not use gasoline, kerosene, or alcohol to light charcoal. Use a charcoal chimney starter or approved charcoal lighter fluid.
- Ash Disposal: Allow charcoal to cool completely before disposing of ash. Ash can remain hot for several hours.
- Ventilation: Ensure proper airflow around the grill for efficient combustion and to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Pre-Use Preparation
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the cooking grates with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
- Seasoning (Optional): For best results and to prevent sticking, lightly coat the cooking grates with high-heat cooking oil (e.g., vegetable oil) before each use.
4.2. Lighting the Charcoal
- Add Charcoal: Place charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal into the enamel charcoal pan. Do not overfill.
- Ignite Charcoal: Use a charcoal chimney starter for efficient and chemical-free ignition. Alternatively, use approved charcoal lighter fluid according to its instructions. Allow the charcoal to ash over (turn gray) before spreading.
- Spread Charcoal: Once the charcoal is ready, spread it evenly across the charcoal pan or arrange it for direct/indirect cooking as desired.
4.3. Temperature Control
The Feasto CG3019 grill offers precise temperature control through its two-level charcoal pan, chimney, and air vents.
- Charcoal Pan Adjustment: The two-level charcoal pan allows you to raise or lower the charcoal closer to or further from the cooking grates, directly impacting cooking temperature. Raise for higher heat (searing), lower for lower heat (slow cooking/smoking).
- Air Vents: Adjust the air vents on the firebox and the chimney to control airflow. More open vents increase oxygen flow, leading to hotter temperatures. Closing them reduces oxygen, lowering the temperature.
- Built-in Thermometer: Monitor the internal grill temperature using the thermometer located on the lid.

Figure 4.1: The two-level charcoal pan system allows for flexible heat adjustments, while the enamel pan ensures stable heat and easy ash disposal.

Figure 4.2: Adjustable air vents on the grill and chimney for precise control over internal temperature by regulating airflow.
4.4. Cooking
The grill offers a total cooking area of 664 square inches, including a 448 sq. in. primary cooking area and a 199 sq. in. warming rack.

Figure 4.3: Overview of the grill's generous cooking capacity, including primary grilling surface and warming rack.
- Direct Grilling: Place food directly over the hot charcoal for searing and quick cooking.
- Indirect Grilling: Arrange charcoal on one side of the grill and food on the other for slower cooking or smoking.
- Warming Rack: Use the upper warming rack to keep cooked food warm or to gently cook delicate items.

Figure 4.4: Illustrates the versatility of the grill for both high-heat searing and lower-heat cooking methods.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your Feasto charcoal grill.
- Cool Down: Always allow the grill to cool completely before cleaning.
- Cooking Grates: The porcelain-enameled grates are rust-resistant and easy to clean. Use a grill brush to remove food residue after each use. For deeper cleaning, wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Charcoal Pan: The enamel charcoal pan facilitates easy ash disposal. Once cooled, remove the pan and empty ash into a non-combustible container. Wipe the pan clean as needed.
- Exterior Surfaces: Wipe down exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that may damage the powder-coated finish.
- Storage: Store the grill in a dry, covered area when not in use to protect it from weather elements.

6. Troubleshooting
Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charcoal not lighting or staying lit | Insufficient airflow; damp charcoal; too much charcoal. | Ensure air vents are open; use dry charcoal; do not overfill charcoal pan. Use a chimney starter. |
| Temperature too low | Air vents closed; insufficient charcoal; charcoal pan too low. | Open air vents; add more charcoal; raise the charcoal pan to a higher level. |
| Temperature too high | Air vents too open; too much charcoal; charcoal pan too high. | Partially close air vents; reduce charcoal quantity; lower the charcoal pan. |
| Food sticking to grates | Grates not seasoned; grates not clean. | Clean grates thoroughly; lightly oil grates before each use. |
| Smoke escaping from lid edges | Lid not seated properly; normal for charcoal grills. | Ensure lid is closed firmly. Minor smoke leakage is common and does not affect performance. |
