3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

The MUDDY Trifecta 180 camera requires 16 AA batteries for operation. For optimal performance and extended field use, it is recommended to use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries. The camera also supports external 12V DC input.

  1. Open the camera housing by unlatching the side clips.
  2. Locate the battery tray inside the camera.
  3. Insert 16 AA batteries into the tray, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
  4. Close the battery tray securely.

3.2. Memory Card Installation

A SanDisk 32GB Ultra SDHC UHS-I Memory Card is included in your bundle. This card is essential for storing captured data.

  1. With the camera housing open, locate the SD card slot.
  2. Insert the SanDisk 32GB SD card into the slot with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the card in until it springs out.

3.3. SIM Card Installation (Not Included)

As a cellular trail camera, the Trifecta 180 requires a compatible SIM card (not included) for cellular data transmission. Consult your cellular provider for a suitable data plan and SIM card.

  1. Locate the SIM card slot, typically near the SD card slot or battery compartment.
  2. Insert the SIM card according to the diagram near the slot.

3.4. Mounting the Camera

The camera features a multi-position mount and a 1/4-20 threaded insert for flexible mounting options. A python cable security option is also available for added security (cable sold separately).

Locate the power switch inside the camera housing. Slide the switch to "ON" to power on the camera and to "OFF" to power it off.
