3. Setup Guide

3.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the mouse.
  2. Gently slide open the battery cover.
  3. Insert the provided AA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Note: The battery may have a protective plastic film that needs to be removed before insertion.
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

3.2. Connecting the USB Receiver

  1. The USB receiver is stored inside the battery compartment. Gently pull it out.
  2. Plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer (laptop or desktop).
  3. Your computer should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers.

3.3. Powering On the Mouse

Slide the ON/OFF switch, located on the underside of the mouse, to the 'ON' position. A red indicator light will briefly illuminate, confirming the mouse is active.

4.1. Ergonomic Design

The Philips Ergonomic Vertical Mouse features a 57° vertical angle, promoting a natural handshake posture. This design aims to reduce wrist fatigue and muscle strain associated with traditional mouse use.

4.2. Button Functions

  • Left/Right Click: Standard mouse functions. The buttons are designed for silent operation.
  • Scroll Wheel: Used for vertical scrolling through documents and web pages.
  • DPI Switch Button: Located near the scroll wheel, this button allows you to adjust the mouse sensitivity (DPI) between 800, 1200, and 1600 DPI.
  • Forward/Backward Buttons: Located on the thumb rest, these buttons facilitate quick navigation in web browsers and file explorers.

4.3. Silent Click Feature

The mouse features silent click buttons, minimizing noise during use. This is beneficial for quiet environments such as libraries, offices, or late-night work sessions.

4.4. Auto Power Saving

The mouse is equipped with an intelligent hibernation mode. After 10 minutes of inactivity, it automatically enters sleep mode to conserve battery life. To wake the mouse, simply move or click it.

4.5. Compatibility

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

To clean your mouse, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the surface.

5.2. Battery Replacement

When the mouse performance degrades or it stops responding, it's time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.1 to replace the AA battery.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Mouse not responding:
    • Ensure the mouse is switched 'ON'.
    • Check if the USB receiver is securely plugged into your computer.
    • Replace the battery if it is depleted.
    • Try plugging the USB receiver into a different USB port.
  • Erratic cursor movement:
    • Ensure the mouse is used on a clean, non-reflective surface.
    • Adjust the DPI setting using the DPI switch button to find a comfortable sensitivity.
