2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  3. Gently push the battery into place until it clicks securely.
  4. Close the battery cover if applicable, ensuring a watertight seal for IP68 protection.

2.2 Charging the Battery

The RM15-6W radio uses a 2000mAh battery and supports Type-C fast charging.

3.1 Power On/Off and Volume

  • To power on, rotate the Volume/Power Switch (2) clockwise.
  • To power off, rotate the Volume/Power Switch (2) counter-clockwise until it clicks.
  • Adjust the volume by rotating the Volume/Power Switch (2).

3.2 Channel Selection

  • Use the CH+ (5) and CH- (7) buttons to navigate through the 88 international maritime channels.
  • Press the 16/9 Button (18) to quickly switch to Channel 16 (International Maritime Emergency Channel) or Channel 9 (Pre-set CALL Channel). A long press may toggle between them.

3.3 Transmitting (PTT)

  • To transmit, press and hold the PTT Button (19). Speak clearly into the microphone (14).
  • Release the PTT button to listen for a response.

3.4 Dual and Triple Watch

These functions allow monitoring of multiple channels simultaneously.

  • Dual Watch: Monitors your selected operating channel and Channel 16.
  • Triple Watch: Monitors your selected operating channel, Channel 16, and the pre-set CALL channel.

3.5 NOAA Weather Channels and FM Radio

  • Press the CH/WX Button (8) to access NOAA weather channels, providing real-time weather forecasts and storm warnings.
