1. Introduction

This user manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your ANENG AT619 Voice Broadcast Multimeter Clamp Meter. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device and retain it for future reference. This device is designed for measuring AC/DC voltage, AC/DC current (via clamp), resistance, capacitance, frequency, temperature, and for continuity and diode tests, featuring a voice broadcast function for readings.

1.1 Safety Information

Always adhere to the following safety precautions to prevent personal injury or damage to the meter:

  • Do not exceed the maximum input values specified for each measurement range.
  • Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
  • Ensure the test leads are in good condition and properly seated before making any measurements.
  • Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or if the case is open.
  • Always turn off the circuit power and discharge all high-voltage capacitors before measuring resistance, continuity, diodes, or capacitance.
  • Use the correct function and range for each measurement.
  • Observe all local and national safety codes.

Figure 1: ANENG AT619 Voice Broadcast Multimeter Clamp Meter. This image displays the front view of the ANENG AT619 clamp meter, highlighting its red clamp jaws, rotary dial, LCD screen, function buttons, and input terminals.

Familiarize yourself with the following components:

  • Clamp Jaws: Used for non-contact AC/DC current measurement.
  • Rotary Dial: Selects the desired measurement function (e.g., V, A, Ω, Hz, NCV, OFF).
  • LCD Display: Shows measurement readings, units, and function indicators (e.g., AUTO, AC, DC, MAX/MIN).
  • Function Buttons:
    • H/∗ (Hold/Backlight): Freezes the current reading on the display. Long press for backlight.
    • REL (Relative): Measures the difference between a stored value and the current reading.
    • SET: Used for selecting sub-functions within a rotary dial position (e.g., AC/DC, Diode/Continuity).
  • Input Terminals:
    • COM (Common): Negative input terminal for all measurements.
    • VΩHz: Positive input terminal for voltage, resistance, frequency, capacitance, diode, and continuity measurements.
    • °C°F: Input for temperature probe.
  • NCV Sensor: Located near the top of the meter for non-contact voltage detection.

4. Setup

Before first use, ensure the battery is correctly installed and the test leads are ready.

4.1 Battery Installation

The ANENG AT619 typically uses AAA batteries. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device, open it, insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators, and securely close the compartment.

4.2 Connecting Test Leads

For most measurements (voltage, resistance, continuity, diode, capacitance, frequency), insert the black test lead into the COM terminal and the red test lead into the VΩHz terminal. For temperature measurements, connect the temperature probe to the designated terminals.

5. Operating Instructions

Always select the correct function before making a measurement.

5.1 Power On/Off

Turn the rotary dial from the "OFF" position to any desired measurement function to power on the meter. To power off, turn the dial back to "OFF".

5.2 AC/DC Voltage Measurement (V)

  1. Set the rotary dial to the "V" position. The meter will typically auto-detect AC or DC. Use the "SET" button if manual selection is needed.
  2. Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit or component being measured.
  3. Read the voltage value on the LCD display.

5.3 AC/DC Current Measurement (A) - Clamp Function

  1. Set the rotary dial to the "A" position. Use the "SET" button to select AC or DC current.
  2. Open the clamp jaws and enclose only one conductor of the circuit. Ensure the jaws are fully closed.
  3. Read the current value on the LCD display.

5.4 Resistance Measurement (Ω)

  1. Set the rotary dial to the "Ω" position.
  2. Ensure the circuit is de-energized and all capacitors are discharged.
  3. Connect the test leads across the component to be measured.
  4. Read the resistance value.

5.5 Continuity Test

  1. Set the rotary dial to the "Ω" position and press "SET" until the continuity symbol (speaker icon) is displayed.
  2. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.
  3. Connect the test leads across the circuit or component. A continuous beep indicates continuity (low resistance).

5.6 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection

  1. Set the rotary dial to the "NCV" position.
  2. Move the NCV sensor near the conductor or outlet. The meter will indicate the presence of AC voltage with an audible beep and/or visual indicator.

5.7 Voice Broadcast Function

The ANENG AT619 automatically broadcasts the measured value after a stable reading is obtained. Ensure the meter's speaker is not obstructed for clear audio output.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the meter's case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is completely dry before use.

6.2 Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings. Refer to section 4.1 for battery installation instructions.

6.3 Fuse Replacement

The ANENG AT619 may contain internal fuses for protection. If a fuse blows, it must be replaced with a fuse of the same type and rating. Refer to the specifications for fuse details. Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Meter does not power on: Check battery installation and charge level. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • No reading or "OL" (Overload) displayed:
    • Ensure test leads are properly connected and making good contact.
    • Verify the correct function and range are selected.
    • For resistance/continuity, ensure the circuit is de-energized.
  • Inaccurate readings:
    • Check battery level.
    • Ensure test leads are not damaged.
    • Verify the meter is not exposed to strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Voice broadcast not working: Check if the speaker is obstructed or if the volume setting (if available) is too low.
