Introduction

Thank you for choosing the hayden HY-8FX 10-Channel DJ Mixer. This professional audio console is designed for a wide range of applications, including studio recording, live performances, DJ setups, and more. It features 6 mic/line inputs, 1 stereo input, 99 DSP effects, a 7-band graphic EQ, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and 48V phantom power. This manual provides essential information for safe and effective operation of your mixer.

Input and Output Connections

The mixer provides a variety of input and output options to connect microphones, instruments, playback devices, and speakers.

Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging and inspect for any damage.
  2. Placement: Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the mixer's power input and then to a suitable electrical outlet. Do not power on yet.
  4. Connect Inputs:
    • Microphones: Connect XLR microphones to the XLR inputs. For condenser microphones, ensure the +48V Phantom Power is engaged (see Figure 3).
    • Instruments/Line Devices: Connect instruments or line-level devices to the 6.35mm line inputs or stereo inputs.
    • USB/Bluetooth: For USB playback, insert a USB drive or connect to a computer. For Bluetooth, pair your device as described in the Operating section.

  5. Connect Outputs: Connect the Main Outputs (XLR or 6.35mm) to your amplifier, powered speakers, or recording device. Connect headphones to the 3.5mm headphone jack for monitoring.
  6. Power On: Once all connections are secure, switch on the mixer's power.

Operating Instructions

Basic Mixing

  1. Gain Control: Adjust the GAIN knob for each channel to set the input level. Aim for a strong signal without clipping (indicated by the PK/OL LED).
  2. Channel EQ: Use the HIGH, MID, and LOW knobs on each channel to adjust the tonal balance of individual inputs.
  3. Channel Volume: Use the channel faders to control the volume of each input in the main mix.
  4. Pan Control: Adjust the PAN knob to position the sound of each channel in the stereo field (left to right).
  5. Main Mix: Use the MAIN MIX faders to control the overall output volume.
  6. Mute Function: Each channel features a one-click mute button to quickly silence an input. An indicator light shows the mute status.

7-Band Graphic Equalizer

The master 7-band graphic equalizer allows for fine-tuning the overall frequency response of your mix.

  1. Frequency Bands: Adjust the faders for specific frequency ranges (63Hz, 150Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.5kHz, 6.3kHz, 16kHz) to shape the sound.
  2. EQ L/R Switch: Engage or disengage the master EQ.

99 DSP Effects

The built-in DSP effects processor offers 99 different effects to enhance your audio.

  1. Effect Selection: Use the UP/DOWN buttons to cycle through the 99 available effects, displayed on the digital screen.
  2. Effect Send: Use the FX/AUX knobs on each channel to send a portion of that channel's signal to the effects processor.
  3. Effect Return: Adjust the EFFECT RETURN knob to control the overall volume of the applied effect in the main mix.

USB and Bluetooth Playback/Recording
