3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Outdoor Unit Installation
The outdoor unit can be installed using either battery power or wired power. It is recommended to install the outdoor unit on an outdoor wall or the door. If the door is metal, mount it on the adjacent wall instead. The ideal installation height is 1.4-1.5 m above the ground.

Battery Power Installation:
- Use the included Phillips (cross-point) screwdriver to loosen the side screw.
- Hold the outdoor unit firmly and slide the back cover downward to remove it.
- Insert the 6 AA batteries, matching the +/- polarity markings inside the compartment. (Note: Install batteries only after connecting the indoor unit to your network.)
Wired Power Installation:
- Use the proper tool to remove the wire entry cover from the backplate.
- Thread the power cable through the wire entry hole.
- Connect the power cable to the outdoor unit's external power terminal and securely tighten the screw. Ensure proper insulation to prevent short circuits. (This device is designed for non-polarized AC or DC input. Either wire from the external power source may be connected to either terminal without affecting functionality.)

3.2 Indoor Unit (Chime/Hub) Installation
The indoor unit can be placed on a flat surface or wall-mounted using the included adhesive pad. It should be placed within 10 meters (horizontal distance) of the outdoor unit, with no major obstructions. Additionally, the linear distance between the indoor unit and the Wi-Fi router should not exceed 20 meters.
- Peel off the adhesive backing and firmly press the indoor unit onto a clean, dry surface. Hold pressure for 30 seconds to ensure strong adhesion.
- Connect the Type-C power cable to the device. The indicator lights will illuminate to confirm successful power-on.
3.3 Adding the Device to the Aqara Home App
Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the device will use. Power on the indoor unit and wait for the status indicator light to flash yellow.
- Open the Aqara Home App. The device will be automatically discovered and displayed on the app. Click on the discovered device and follow the app's instructions to connect it.
- Alternatively, click on the "+" icon in the upper right corner of the app's homepage and select the device to connect it to the app.
