5. Setup and Wiring

The voltmeter features a 3-wire connection system. Proper wiring is crucial for correct operation and to prevent damage to the device.

5.1 Wire Definitions

  • Red Wire: Working Power Positive (Connect to the positive terminal of the power supply for the voltmeter itself, typically 4-30V DC).
  • Black Wire: Common Negative (Connect to the negative terminal of both the working power supply and the circuit being measured).
  • Blue Wire: Test Power Positive (Connect to the positive terminal of the voltage source you wish to measure, 0-100V DC).

5.2 Wiring Diagram

Important: Ensure that the operating voltage for the voltmeter (Red and Black wires) is within the 4-30V DC range. The voltage being measured (Blue and Black wires) can be up to 100V DC. Connect the black wire to the common ground of both power sources if they are separate.

5.3 Calibration Fine-Tuning

The voltmeter includes a calibration fine-tuning potentiometer on the PCB. If minor adjustments to the reading accuracy are required, use a small screwdriver to carefully turn the potentiometer. This should only be done if you have a known accurate voltage reference for comparison.

6. Operation

Once properly wired and powered, the voltmeter will automatically display the measured DC voltage on its 4-digit LED screen. No further user interaction is typically required for basic voltage monitoring.

  • The display will show the voltage in Volts (V) with three decimal places for precision (e.g., 12.345V).
  • Ensure the measured voltage does not exceed 100.0V DC to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Display:
    • Check if the working power supply (Red and Black wires) is connected correctly and providing 4-30V DC.
    • Ensure the black wire is properly connected to the negative terminal.
    • Verify that the power supply is active.
  • Incorrect Reading:
    • Confirm that the blue wire is connected to the correct positive terminal of the voltage source being measured.
    • Ensure the black wire is common to both the meter's power and the measured voltage source.
    • If a slight offset is observed, use the calibration fine-tuning potentiometer (refer to Section 5.3) with a known accurate reference.
    • Verify the measured voltage is within the 0-100V DC range.
  • Flickering Display:
    • Check for unstable power supply to the voltmeter (Red and Black wires).
    • Ensure connections are secure and free from intermittent contact.

8. Maintenance
