3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Attaching the Lens to Your Camera

  1. Ensure your camera is powered off.
  2. Remove the rear lens cap from the TTARTISAN lens and the body cap from your camera.
  3. Align the red dot on the lens barrel with the corresponding mounting mark on your camera body.
  4. Gently insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place.
  5. Power on your camera. If using a full-frame camera, ensure it is set to APS-C mode for optimal performance with this lens.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Manual Focus

The TTARTISAN Tilt 35mm f/1.4 lens features a manual focus ring. Rotate the focus ring to achieve sharp focus on your subject. Utilize your camera's focus peaking or magnification assist features for precise focusing.

4.2 Aperture Control

Adjust the aperture using the stepless aperture ring on the lens barrel. The f/1.4 aperture allows for excellent low-light performance and shallow depth of field, while stopping down to f/16 increases depth of field.

4.3 Tilt Mechanism

The lens features an 8° tilt mechanism. To use it, loosen the small knob on the side of the lens barrel. This allows the front lens group to tilt up to 8° left or right, enabling control over the direction of the focus plane. This is crucial for creating selective focus effects or the popular miniature (tilt-shift) look.

4.4 360° Rotation

In conjunction with the tilt mechanism, the lens can rotate 360°. This allows you to orient the tilt effect in any direction. The rotating mechanism is marked in 15-degree increments with limit stops, ensuring precise angle control for your compositions.

4.5 Creating Tilt Effects

By tilting the lens, you shift the plane of focus away from being parallel to the camera's sensor. This creates a narrow band of sharpness, making objects outside this band appear blurred, simulating a miniature look or drawing attention to specific elements within your frame. Experiment with different tilt angles and rotation positions to achieve desired creative outcomes.

4.6 Video Operation

The stepless aperture is beneficial for video recording, allowing for smooth exposure transitions without audible clicks. The tilt function can be used to create unique cinematic effects, such as miniature world videos, with natural bokeh and reduced noise in low-light conditions.
