Operating Instructions
Battery Charging
To charge the battery, remove it from the bike or charge it directly on the bike. Connect the charger to the battery charging port and then plug it into a power outlet. The indicator light on the charger will change when charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 4-6 hours.

Powering On/Off
Insert the key into the battery lock and turn it to the "ON" position. Press and hold the power button on the display panel to turn the e-bike on. Repeat to turn off.
Riding Modes and Controls
- Pedal Assist Mode: The motor provides assistance as you pedal. Use the "+" and "-" buttons on the handlebar display to adjust the level of assistance (typically 1-5 levels).
- Full Electric Mode (if applicable): Some models may have a throttle for full electric propulsion without pedaling. Refer to local regulations regarding throttle use.
- Power Boost Button: The L20 Boost features a dedicated power boost button (labeled 'B' on the handlebar). Pressing this button provides an explosive burst of power, ideal for climbing hills or quick acceleration.
- 7-Speed Gear Shifter: Use the Shimano 7-speed gear shifter to select appropriate gears for different terrains and speeds, similar to a traditional bicycle.
- Lighting Control: The handlebar controls also include buttons for turning the front and rear lights on/off.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of your ENGWE L20 e-bike.
- Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure before each ride. The 20'' x 4.0'' fat tires require specific pressure for optimal performance and comfort. Refer to the tire sidewall for recommended PSI.
- Brakes: Regularly inspect brake pads for wear and ensure brake levers provide firm and responsive stopping power. Adjust or replace as needed.
- Chain Lubrication: Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth gear changes and prevent wear.
- Battery Care: Store the battery in a cool, dry place. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge it regularly, even if not in use, to maintain battery health.
- General Cleaning: Clean your e-bike regularly with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
- Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and quick releases to ensure they are securely tightened.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| E-bike does not power on | Battery not charged, battery not properly seated, key not in "ON" position, loose electrical connection. | Charge battery, ensure battery is fully inserted and locked, turn key to "ON", check connections. |
| Motor not assisting | Pedal assist level too low, brake levers engaged, motor connection loose, sensor issue. | Increase pedal assist level, ensure brakes are not engaged, check motor cable, contact support if sensor suspected. |
| Short battery range | Low tire pressure, frequent use of high assist levels/throttle, old battery, riding uphill often. | Inflate tires to recommended PSI, use lower assist levels, consider battery replacement if old, adjust riding style. |
| Brakes squealing or ineffective | Worn brake pads, dirty rotors, misaligned calipers. | Inspect and replace brake pads, clean rotors, adjust brake calipers. Consult a professional if unsure. |
