1. Introduction

The Sonos Arc Ultra is a premium soundbar designed to deliver an immersive audio experience for television and music. It features advanced acoustic architecture, including Sound Motion technology, to fill your room with precise, detailed sound. The Arc Ultra supports Dolby Atmos for a 9.1.4 spatial audio experience and includes Speech Enhancement for clearer dialogue.

This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Connection

1. Placement: Position the Sonos Arc Ultra in front of your TV, ensuring it is not obstructed. For optimal Dolby Atmos performance, avoid placing it inside a cabinet.
2. Power: Connect the supplied power cable to the soundbar and then to a power outlet.
3. HDMI eARC: Connect one end of the supplied HDMI cable to the HDMI eARC port on the Sonos Arc Ultra and the other end to the HDMI eARC port on your television. Ensure your TV's HDMI eARC setting is enabled.

4.2 Sonos App Installation and Configuration

The Sonos app is essential for setting up and controlling your Arc Ultra.

1. Download: Download the Sonos app from your device's app store (available for Android and Apple devices).
2. Launch App: Open the Sonos app and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account or log in.
3. Add Product: The app will guide you through detecting and adding your Sonos Arc Ultra to your Sonos system. Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you intend to use for the soundbar.
4. Software Update: The app will prompt you to update the soundbar's software if a new version is available. Complete this step for optimal performance.

4.3 Trueplay Tuning

Trueplay optimizes the sound of your Arc Ultra for your room's acoustics.

• Access Trueplay through the Sonos app.
• Follow the app's instructions to calibrate the soundbar using your mobile device's microphone. This process involves moving around the room while the soundbar emits test tones.

4.4 Adding Optional Speakers

The Sonos Arc Ultra can be expanded with additional Sonos speakers like a Sub or surround speakers for a more comprehensive home theater experience.

1. Prepare Speaker: For existing Sonos speakers, perform a factory reset before attempting to pair. Unplug the power cable, press and hold the 'join' button, then plug the power cable back in. Release the 'join' button when you see a flashing orange light, which will then turn to flashing green.
2. Add in App: In the Sonos app, navigate to 'Add Speakers and Components'.
3. Pairing: The app will guide you through the pairing process, often using NFC for quick connection. Ensure the Arc Ultra and the new speaker are assigned to the same 'room' in the app.
4. Update: Update the software for any newly added speakers.

4.5 Bluetooth Pairing

The Arc Ultra supports Bluetooth for direct audio streaming from compatible devices.

• Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device.
• On the Arc Ultra, locate and press the Bluetooth pairing button (typically on the rear).

• TV Remote: The Arc Ultra can sync with your TV remote for volume control via HDMI eARC.

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Sonos Arc Ultra, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surface of the soundbar. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or sprays that could damage the finish or internal components.
• Ventilation: Ensure the soundbar's vents are not blocked to allow for proper airflow and prevent overheating.
• Environment: Keep the soundbar away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
• Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install software updates via the Sonos app to benefit from new features and performance improvements.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 General Connectivity Issues

• Soundbar not pairing with TV: If the soundbar occasionally loses connection or fails to pair with your TV, try turning off both the TV and the soundbar, then power them back on. Ensure your TV's HDMI eARC setting is correctly configured.
• Soundbar loses contact after Trueplay tuning: If this occurs, power cycle the soundbar by unplugging it for a few seconds and then plugging it back in.
• Sonos App issues: Ensure your Sonos app is updated to the latest version. Restarting the app or your mobile device can resolve minor glitches.

7.2 Audio Format Limitations

• DTS-X Decoding: The Sonos Arc Ultra does not decode DTS-X audio format. Ensure your source content or TV is configured to output compatible audio formats like Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, or PCM.

7.3 Regional Feature Availability

• Voice Assistant: Sonos Voice Control, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant features may not be available in all regions, including India. This is a regional limitation and not a product malfunction.

7.4 Physical Connectivity

• Single HDMI Port: The Arc Ultra features only one HDMI eARC port. Direct connection of other HDMI-enabled devices to the soundbar is not supported. All devices should connect to your TV, and the TV will then send audio to the soundbar via eARC.
• Optical Connection: An optical audio connection is not natively available. An adapter cable from Sonos is required if an optical connection is necessary for your setup.
