4. Initial Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks into place.
- To remove, press the battery release latch and slide the battery downwards.
4.2 Antenna Attachment
- Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
4.3 Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge the battery. The UV-32 supports USB-C charging.
- Connect the USB-C cable to the charging port on the side of the radio (refer to Figure 2, item 14).
- Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port).
- The charging indicator LED will show red during charging and turn green when fully charged.

5. Basic Operation
5.1 Power On/Off
- To power on: Rotate the Power/Volume knob (Figure 2, item 4) clockwise until you hear a click.
- To power off: Rotate the Power/Volume knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.
5.2 Volume Adjustment
- Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.
5.3 Channel Selection
- Use the Encoder/Channel Selector Switch (Figure 2, item 2) to scroll through available channels.
- Alternatively, use the Numeric Keypad (Figure 2, item 9) to directly input a channel number.
5.4 Transmitting (Push-to-Talk - PTT)
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT Key (Figure 2, item 6) on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone (Figure 2, item 10).
- Release the PTT Key to receive.

6. Advanced Features
6.1 10W High Power Communication
The UV-32 features a true 10W output power, providing extended communication range. This allows for reliable connectivity over 3-4 miles in forested areas and 2-3 miles in urban environments, surpassing the performance of lower-power radios.
