- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the stainless steel pot, percolator stem, coffee basket, and coffee basket lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the percolator base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base or power cord in water.
- Assemble Stem and Basket: Place the percolator stem into the center hole of the coffee basket.
- Insert into Pot: Place the assembled stem and coffee basket into the percolator pot, ensuring the bottom of the stem rests securely in the heating element well at the bottom of the pot.

5. Operating Instructions
- Add Coffee Grounds: Add your desired amount of coarse ground coffee to the coffee basket. For best results, use 1 heaping tablespoon of coffee per cup of water. Do not overfill the basket.
- Place Basket Lid: Place the coffee basket lid/spreader on top of the coffee grounds in the basket.
- Secure Main Lid: Place the main lid securely on the percolator pot.
- Connect Power: Attach the detachable power cord to the percolator base, then plug the other end into a standard electrical outlet.
- Start Brewing: Turn on the percolator using the power switch. The indicator light will illuminate, signaling that brewing has begun.
- Percolation Process: Water will heat and rise through the percolator stem, showering over the coffee grounds. This process will repeat until the coffee is brewed to perfection. You can observe the color of the coffee through the glass knob on the lid to gauge its strength.
- Keep Warm: Once brewing is complete, the percolator will automatically switch to a "keep warm" function, maintaining the coffee at an optimal serving temperature.
- Serve: Unplug the percolator from the wall outlet before serving. The cool-touch handle allows for safe pouring.

6. Maintenance & Cleaning
- Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the percolator and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Discard Grounds: Remove the main lid, coffee basket lid, and coffee basket. Discard used coffee grounds.
- Wash Components: Wash the stainless steel pot, percolator stem, coffee basket, and coffee basket lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. These parts are generally dishwasher safe.
- Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the percolator base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base or power cord in water.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits may build up inside the pot. To descale, fill the pot with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Brew this mixture through a cycle (without coffee grounds). Rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times before brewing coffee again.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee is too weak | Not enough coffee grounds; grounds too coarse; insufficient brewing time. | Increase coffee grounds; use finer grind; ensure full brewing cycle completes. |
| Coffee is too strong/bitter | Too many coffee grounds; grounds too fine; coffee left on "keep warm" too long. | Reduce coffee grounds; use coarser grind; remove coffee from heat promptly after brewing. |
| Percolator not brewing | Not plugged in; power switch off; insufficient water. | Check power connection; ensure switch is on; add water to appropriate level. |
| Water not percolating | Percolator stem not seated correctly; mineral buildup. | Ensure stem is properly inserted; descale the percolator. |
