Adding Food Waste

  2. Place your food waste into the inner barrel. Ensure not to overfill beyond the maximum fill line.
  3. Close the lid securely.

Selecting a Composting Mode

The composter offers three operational modes:

  • Auto Mode: The composter automatically detects the weight of the food waste and adjusts the processing time (typically 4-6 hours).
  • Manual Mode: Allows you to manually select a processing time between 1 and 6 hours.
  • FMT (Ferment) Mode: After a regular composting cycle, you can use this 10-hour mode to further ferment the dried output into nutrient-rich plant fertilizer. This requires adding approximately 50% water (e.g., 400g water for 800g treated waste) to the treated waste before starting the FMT cycle.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Growell Electric Composter, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Unit not powering on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the composter and a working electrical outlet.
  • Unusual odors: Check if the carbon filters need replacement. Ensure the lid is properly sealed during operation.
  • Composting cycle taking too long: Verify that the inner barrel is not overfilled. Ensure only recommended items are being composted.
  • Processed material is still wet: This may indicate an issue with the drying cycle or too much moisture in the initial food waste. Try running another cycle or reducing the moisture content of the waste.
  • Error codes on display: Consult the detailed troubleshooting section in the printed user manual for specific error code meanings and solutions.
