3. Setup

  1. Unpack and Prepare: Carefully remove the detector from its packaging. Before first use, remove any protective film from the display screen.
  2. Plug In: Insert the detector into a standard 110V-220V AC electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is at a suitable height for optimal detection and visibility, typically at eye level or slightly below.
  3. Initial Preheating: Upon plugging in, the device will initiate a preheating countdown of 180 seconds. During this period, the display will show a countdown. Wait until the value drops to '0' before normal operation begins. This allows the sensors to stabilize.
  4. Install Battery Backup (Optional but Recommended): For continuous operation during power outages, install a 9V alkaline battery (not included) into the backup battery compartment located on the rear of the device. Ensure correct polarity.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the detector has completed its preheating cycle, it will begin continuous monitoring and display real-time data.

  • Real-Time Display: The color screen continuously displays current readings for Carbon Monoxide (PPM), Gas (%LEL), Temperature (°F), and Humidity (%RH).
  • Brightness Control: Press the 'BRIGHTNESS' button to cycle through three levels of display brightness (Low, Medium, High) to suit your environment.
  • Volume Control: Press the 'VOLUME' button to adjust the voice alarm sound level (Low, Medium, High). The alarm sound can reach over 85dB.
  • Self-Test Function: Press the 'SELF-TEST' button to perform a functional check of the detector. During the self-test, the device will activate the alarm sound and flash indicator lights (green, yellow, red) to confirm proper operation.
  • Alarm Indications:
    • Green Light: Power indicator, always on during normal operation.
    • Yellow Light: Fault indicator, flashes if a fault is detected.
    • Red Light: Alarm indicator, flashes during CO or gas alarms, accompanied by an audible voice alert.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your detector.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the exterior of the detector with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or sprays directly on the unit. Ensure the air inlet is free from dust and obstructions.
  • Battery Replacement: If a 9V backup battery is installed, replace it annually or when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use a fresh 9V alkaline battery. Refer to the setup section for battery installation instructions.
  • Testing: Perform the self-test function weekly to ensure the alarm and sensors are working correctly.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your detector, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

  • False Alarms: Ensure the detector is not placed near sources of combustion (e.g., stoves, fireplaces, water heaters) or strong chemical fumes (e.g., cleaning products, paint) that could trigger a gas alarm. High humidity or rapid temperature fluctuations can also sometimes affect readings during the initial stabilization period. Relocate the detector if necessary.
  • No Display/Power: Check if the device is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. If a backup battery is installed, ensure it is correctly inserted and not depleted. Test the outlet with another appliance.
  • Fault Indicator (Yellow Light Flashing): If the yellow fault light flashes, the detector may have an internal issue. Perform a self-test by pressing the 'SELF-TEST' button. If the fault persists after the self-test, contact customer support for assistance.
  • Inaccurate Temperature Readings: The internal temperature sensor may be affected by the heat generated by the device itself. Allow at least 30 minutes for stabilization after plugging in. For precise ambient temperature, use a dedicated external thermometer.
