2. Safety Information

WARNING: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken when handling aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.

  • Ensure the power cord and plug are dry before connecting to power.
  • Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  • To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A "drip loop" should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The "drip loop" is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water from traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then, unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Always unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
  • Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
  • Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
  • Ensure the wave maker is fully submerged in water during operation. Dry running can damage the unit.
  • This appliance operates on DC 24V. Use only the provided power adapter.

  • LCD Display: Shows current mode, wattage, and gear/frequency settings.
  • 'F' (Feed/Stop) Button: Activates the 10-minute feeding pause. Press again to resume normal operation.
  • '+' and '-' Buttons: Adjust wave frequencies or flow intensity (Gear).
  • 'M' (Mode) Button: Cycles through different flow modes.
  • Rotary Knob: Fine-tunes settings or intensity.

5. Installation

  1. Mounting the Wave Maker:

Position the wave maker unit inside your aquarium, ensuring it is fully submerged and securely attached to the tank wall using its magnetic mount. Place the external magnet on the outside of the tank, aligning it with the internal unit. Ensure the unit is placed in a location that allows for optimal water flow throughout the tank, avoiding direct impingement on corals or sensitive inhabitants.

  2. Connecting the Controller:

Connect the cable from the wave maker unit to the designated port on the LCD controller. Ensure the connection is firm and secure.

  3. Connecting Power:

Connect the DC 24V power adapter to the controller, then plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure a "drip loop" is formed with the power cord to prevent water from reaching the outlet.

  4. Initial Power On:

Once powered on, the LCD display will illuminate, and the wave maker will begin operating in its default mode. You can now proceed to configure the settings.

6. Operating Instructions

The MagTool Wave Maker offers versatile flow modes to simulate various aquatic environments. Use the LCD controller to navigate and adjust settings.

6.1. Flow Modes

Press the 'M' (Mode) button to cycle through the following modes:

  • Constant Flow Mode: Provides a steady, continuous water flow. Adjust intensity using the '+' and '-' buttons or the rotary knob.
  • Pulse Mode: Creates rhythmic pulses of water flow, simulating natural wave action. Adjust pulse frequency (11 levels) using the '+' and '-' buttons.
  • Tidal Mode: Simulates tidal currents with varying flow intensity over time. Adjust frequency (11 levels) for the tidal cycle.
  • Turbulent Mode: Generates random, turbulent flow patterns for dynamic water movement.

6.2. Feeding Mode

To provide a calm environment for feeding your fish or corals, press the 'F' (Feed/Stop) button. The pump will pause for 10 minutes. The LCD display will show a countdown. After 10 minutes, the pump will automatically resume its previous operating mode. You can also press the 'F' button again to manually resume operation before the 10 minutes are up.

6.3. Adjusting Flow Intensity/Frequency

In most modes, you can adjust the flow intensity or wave frequency using the '+' and '-' buttons on the controller. The LCD display will show the current "Gear" or "Watt" setting, indicating the intensity or frequency level.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your MagTool Wave Maker.

  1. Routine Cleaning:

Periodically remove the wave maker unit from the aquarium. Disassemble the protective grilles and impeller housing. Use a soft brush and clean water (or a mild vinegar solution for stubborn calcium deposits) to remove algae, detritus, and mineral buildup from the impeller, shaft, and internal components. Rinse thoroughly with clean water before reassembly.

  2. Impeller Inspection:

Inspect the impeller and its ceramic shaft for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. A damaged impeller can lead to reduced performance or increased noise. Replace if necessary.

  3. Cable and Connector Check:

Regularly inspect all cables and connectors for signs of wear, fraying, or corrosion. Ensure all connections are secure and dry.
