Your Blade mCX Anniversary Edition RTF package includes all necessary components to begin flying immediately:

Setup Guide

1. Transmitter Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the Spektrum MLP4DSM transmitter.
  2. Slide open the battery cover.
  3. Insert the four (4) included AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

2. LiPo Battery Charging

The included 1S 150mAh LiPo battery may not be fully charged upon arrival. Always charge the battery before first use.

  1. Connect the E-flite 1S USB LiPo Battery Charger to any standard USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The charger's LED will illuminate.
  2. Connect the 1S 3.7V LiPo battery to the charger. Ensure the connector is inserted correctly.
  3. The charger's LED will indicate charging status (e.g., solid red for charging, off or green for fully charged, refer to charger's specific instructions if different).
  4. Once charging is complete, disconnect the battery from the charger and the charger from the USB source.

CAUTION: Always supervise batteries during charging. Do not charge damaged or swollen batteries. Use only the provided charger.

3. Helicopter Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the helicopter's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Carefully insert the charged LiPo battery into the battery compartment on the underside of the helicopter.
  3. Connect the battery connector to the helicopter's power port. Ensure a secure connection.

Operating Instructions

1. Binding the Transmitter and Helicopter

Your Blade mCX helicopter and Spektrum MLP4DSM transmitter are factory-bound. If re-binding is necessary:

  1. Ensure the transmitter is OFF and the helicopter battery is disconnected.
  2. Turn on the transmitter while holding the trainer/bind button (if applicable, refer to transmitter manual for exact location).
  3. Connect the helicopter battery. The helicopter's LED will flash rapidly.
  4. Release the bind button on the transmitter. The helicopter's LED will turn solid, indicating a successful bind.
  5. Disconnect and reconnect the helicopter battery to complete the binding process.

2. Pre-Flight Checklist

  • Ensure both transmitter and helicopter batteries are fully charged.
  • Verify all rotor blades are securely attached and free from damage.
  • Confirm the flight area is clear of obstacles, people, and pets.
  • Check that the helicopter's landing gear is intact.

3. Basic Flight Controls

The Spektrum MLP4DSM transmitter uses a standard mode 2 configuration:

  • Left Stick (Throttle/Rudder):
    • Up/Down: Controls throttle (main rotor speed) for ascent and descent.
    • Left/Right: Controls rudder for yaw (rotation around vertical axis).
  • Right Stick (Aileron/Elevator):
    • Up/Down: Controls elevator for pitch (forward/backward movement).
    • Left/Right: Controls aileron for roll (sideways movement).

4. First Flight Tips

  • Start with small, gentle stick movements.
  • Practice hovering in a controlled environment before attempting complex maneuvers.
  • If the helicopter becomes uncontrollable, immediately reduce throttle to zero to prevent damage.
  • The mCX is designed for indoor flight. Avoid flying outdoors, especially in windy conditions.

Maintenance

  • Rotor Blades: Inspect blades for cracks or damage before each flight. Replace bent or broken blades immediately.
  • Landing Gear: Check for any cracks or bends in the landing gear.
  • Motors: Ensure motors are free of debris. Avoid prolonged operation if motors feel excessively hot.
  • Battery Care: Store LiPo batteries at room temperature and a storage charge (around 3.8V per cell) if not used for extended periods. Do not fully discharge or overcharge.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the helicopter. Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals.
