5. Setup

Follow these steps for initial assembly and setup of your CNC machine and enclosure.

5.1 CNC Machine Assembly

  1. Unpack all components and verify against the package contents list.
  2. Assemble the frame components according to the included assembly diagrams. Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
  3. Install the X, Y, and Z-axis assemblies, ensuring smooth movement along all axes.
  4. Mount the 710W spindle into its holder and secure it.
  5. Connect all motor cables, limit switches, and the spindle cable to the control board. Refer to the wiring diagram for correct connections.
  6. Connect the power adapter and USB cable to the control board.

5.2 Kaba Fold CNC Enclosure Setup

  1. Unfold the enclosure and ensure all panels are correctly aligned.
  2. Place the assembled CNC machine inside the enclosure.
  3. Secure any flaps or fasteners to fully enclose the machine.
  4. Ensure cables can pass through designated openings without being pinched.

6. Operating Instructions

This section outlines the basic steps for operating your Genmitsu 3020-PRO Ultra CNC machine.

6.1 Software Installation and Configuration

  1. Install the recommended CNC control software (e.g., Candle, UGS) on your computer.
  2. Install the necessary USB drivers for your control board.
  3. Configure the software settings according to the machine's specifications (e.g., GRBL settings, baud rate).

6.2 Preparing for a Job

  1. Design your workpiece using CAD/CAM software and generate the G-code.
  2. Securely mount your material onto the wasteboard using clamps or other fixtures.
  3. Insert the appropriate end mill into the ER11 collet and tighten it firmly.
  4. Connect your computer to the CNC machine via USB.
  5. Open the CNC control software and establish a connection to the machine.

6.3 Setting Workpiece Zero and Running the Job

  1. Manually or automatically home the machine if equipped with limit switches.
  2. Jog the spindle to the desired X, Y, and Z zero positions on your workpiece.
  3. Set the workpiece zero in the CNC control software.
  4. Load your G-code file into the software.
  5. Ensure the enclosure is closed and all safety precautions are observed.
  6. Start the job. Monitor the machining process closely.
  7. Upon completion, allow the spindle to stop completely before removing the workpiece.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your CNC machine.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean dust and debris from the machine, especially from lead screws, linear rails, and the spindle. Use compressed air or a soft brush.
  • Lubrication: Apply a thin layer of appropriate lubricant to the lead screws and linear rails periodically to ensure smooth movement.
  • Tightness Check: Periodically check all screws and fasteners for tightness. Retighten as necessary.
  • Collet Maintenance: Clean the ER11 collet and collet nut regularly to prevent buildup that could affect tool concentricity.
  • Enclosure Cleaning: Wipe down the Kaba Fold Enclosure with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain visibility through the windows.
