1. Initial Setup
1.1 Setting the Time and Date
To set the time and date on your Timex Expedition Scout watch, follow these steps:
- Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) out to the second position. This will stop the second hand.
- Set the time: Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure you set the correct AM/PM for the date change mechanism. The date will change automatically between 9 PM and 3 AM if set correctly.
- Set the date: Push the crown in halfway to the first position. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. If your watch has a quick-set date feature, you can adjust it independently. If not, you may need to cycle the time forward 24 hours to advance the date.
- Push in the crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into its original position. The second hand will resume movement.

2. Operating Your Watch
2.1 INDIGLO Night-Light
Your Timex Expedition Scout watch features an INDIGLO night-light for illumination in low-light conditions.
- Activation: Press and hold the crown (the same knob used for setting time) to activate the INDIGLO night-light. The entire dial will illuminate.
- Duration: The light will remain on as long as the crown is pressed.

2.2 Water Resistance
The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (164 feet).
- Suitable for: Brief periods of recreational swimming or showering.
- Not suitable for: Diving, snorkeling, or prolonged water exposure. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.
2.3 24-Hour Time Display
The watch dial includes an inner ring with 24-hour markings (13-24) for easy reference to military time.
- Reading: After 12 PM (noon), the hour hand will point to both the standard hour (e.g., 1 PM is 1) and the corresponding 24-hour time (e.g., 1 PM is 13).
3. Care and Maintenance
3.1 Strap Care
The genuine leather strap requires proper care to maintain its appearance and longevity.
- Cleaning: Wipe the strap with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
- Drying: Allow the strap to air dry completely if it gets wet. Do not expose it to direct heat.
- Conditioning: Periodically apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking.

3.2 Battery Replacement
The watch is powered by one Lithium Metal battery (included). When the watch stops or the INDIGLO light becomes dim, it may be time to replace the battery.
- Professional Service: Battery replacement should ideally be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.
- Battery Type: Refer to the watch back for the specific battery model number, typically a standard watch battery.
4. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your watch, consider the following common solutions:
- Watch not running: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If it still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
- Date not changing: Check if the time is set correctly for AM/PM. If the date is stuck between days, manually advance the time past midnight to correct it. If the issue persists, professional service may be required.
- INDIGLO light dim or not working: This often indicates a low battery. Replace the battery.
- Water ingress: If moisture appears inside the watch, immediately seek professional service to prevent further damage.
For persistent issues, please contact Timex customer support or an authorized service center.
