Introduction
This instruction manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your INTEX Cartridge Filter Pump C1000. This cartridge-type filter pump is designed for optimal water filtration in large INTEX pools. This specific model is a Japan-specification unit, compatible with standard 100V household power sources in Japan without the need for a transformer. It is engineered to filter and circulate approximately 3,785 liters of water per hour, ensuring your pool water remains clean and clear. The pump incorporates INTEX's patented Hydro Aeration Technology, which injects air into the water to enhance circulation efficiency and improve water transparency. A convenient gauge indicator on the top of the unit displays the filter's dirt level using a three-color system (green, yellow, red), making it easy to determine when the cartridge requires replacement. This feature significantly aids in routine pool maintenance and daily water quality management.

Setup
Follow these steps to set up your filter pump:
- Positioning the Pump: Place the filter pump on a firm, level surface at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool wall. Ensure the location is dry and protected from direct sunlight and rain.
- Connecting Hoses: Connect the two hoses from the pump to the inlet and outlet fittings on your pool. The hose from the pump's outlet (where filtered water exits) connects to the upper pool fitting, and the hose from the pump's inlet (where pool water enters for filtration) connects to the lower pool fitting. Secure all hose connections with the provided clamps, ensuring they are tight to prevent leaks.

- Filling the Pool: Fill your pool with water to the recommended level. Ensure the water level is above the inlet and outlet fittings to allow for proper water flow to the pump.
- Priming the Pump: Before plugging in the pump, open the air release valve on top of the filter housing (if applicable) to allow air to escape. Once water starts flowing out, close the valve. This primes the pump and prevents airlocks.
- Power Connection: Plug the pump into a grounded 100V electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for safety.
Operating Instructions
To operate your INTEX Cartridge Filter Pump C1000:
- Starting the Pump: Once connected and primed, turn on the pump using the power switch. The pump will begin circulating and filtering the pool water.
- Filtration Cycle: Operate the pump for a sufficient duration each day to ensure all pool water is filtered. The recommended filtration time varies based on pool size and usage, typically 4-8 hours per day.
- Hydro Aeration Technology: This pump features Hydro Aeration Technology, which enhances water circulation and clarity by injecting air into the water. You may observe small bubbles being released into the pool, indicating this technology is active.
- Monitoring Performance: Regularly check the water flow from the pump's outlet. A strong, consistent flow indicates proper operation.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of your filter pump:
- Checking the Filter Gauge: The pump is equipped with a gauge indicator on the top of the unit. This gauge displays the filter's dirt level in three colors:

- Green: Filter is clean and operating efficiently.
- Yellow: Filter is moderately dirty and may require cleaning soon.
- Red: Filter is dirty and needs immediate cleaning or replacement to maintain optimal performance.
- Cleaning the Filter Cartridge: When the gauge indicates yellow or red, or if you notice reduced water flow, it's time to clean the filter cartridge.
- Disconnect the pump from the power source.
- Close the plunger valves (if your pool has them) to prevent water from flowing out of the pool.
- Unscrew the filter housing cap and remove the cartridge.
- Rinse the cartridge thoroughly with a garden hose to remove debris.
- If the cartridge remains dirty or damaged after rinsing, replace it with a new INTEX Type A filter cartridge.
- Reinsert the clean or new cartridge, secure the housing cap, open the plunger valves, and reconnect power.
- Winterization: For prolonged periods of non-use or during winter, disconnect the pump, drain all water from it, clean the cartridge, and store the pump in a dry, frost-free location.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your filter pump, consider the following common solutions:
- No Water Flow or Weak Flow:
- Check if the pump is plugged in and powered on.
- Ensure all valves are open and hoses are not kinked.
- Clean or replace the filter cartridge as indicated by the gauge.
- Check for air in the system; re-prime the pump.
- Unusual Noise:
- Ensure the pump is properly primed and not running dry.
- Check for debris in the impeller housing (disconnect power before inspecting).
- Water Leaks:
- Tighten all hose clamps and connections.
- Check O-rings and gaskets for proper seating and damage.
