Setup

1. Powering the Scale

Your THINKSCALE shipping scale offers dual power options:

  • USB Power Adapter: Connect the provided USB cable to the scale's display unit and then to the USB power adapter. Plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet for continuous power.
  • Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the display unit. Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). The scale can operate on batteries for full portability.

2. Scale Placement

For accurate measurements, place the scale platform on a firm, level, and stable surface. Uneven surfaces can lead to inaccurate readings.

3. Display Unit Placement

The separate backlit LCD display unit is connected by a coiled cable, allowing flexible placement. You can:

  • Place it on a desk or countertop.
  • Mount it on a wall using the provided screws and anchors. The display unit has a back nail slot for this purpose.

The display is designed to remain on and does not auto-shut off, ensuring continuous visibility of measurements.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

Press the POWER button (Power button icon) on the display unit to turn the scale on or off. The scale is pre-calibrated and ready for immediate use.

2. Unit Conversion

To switch between weighing units (kilograms, pounds, or pounds:ounces), press the MODE button. The display will cycle through kg, lb, and lb:oz.

3. Tare Function

The Tare function allows you to zero out the weight of a container, so you only measure the contents.

  1. Place an empty container on the scale platform.
  2. Press the TARE button. The display will reset to 0.00.
  3. Add the items you wish to weigh into the container. The display will show the net weight of the items.

4. Hold Function

The Hold function locks the weight on the display, which is useful when a large item obstructs the view of the display unit.

  1. Place the item on the scale.
  2. Once the weight stabilizes, press the HOLD button. The weight reading will be locked on the display.
  3. You can now remove the item, and the weight will remain visible on the screen for accurate recording.

5. Weighing Items

To weigh an item:

  1. Ensure the scale is on and displaying 0.00. If not, press TARE to zero it.
  2. Gently place the item to be weighed in the center of the scale platform.
  3. Wait for the display to stabilize and read the weight.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the scale platform and display unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water.
  • Storage: Store the scale in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Calibration: The scale comes pre-calibrated. Routine user calibration is generally not required.
