4.2. Preparation Before Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the environment meets the following criteria:

  • No heat source or steam source nearby.
  • No obstructions around the inlet and outlet of both indoor and outdoor units.
  • No flammable or explosive gas, or corrosive gas present.

The wall for the indoor unit should be hard, flat, and firm to avoid vibration and noise.

Indoor Unit Position Requirements:

  • To ceiling: > 15cm
  • To obstacle (sides): > 20cm
  • To floor: 230~260cm

4.3. Indoor Unit Installation Steps

  1. Fix Mounting Plate:
Put the mounting plate on the wall and use a level to ensure it is horizontal. Select the position for screws, using no less than 5 screws. Punch holes in the wall. Use expansion screw kits to firmly fix the plate to the wall. Note: Do not use nails to fix the plate.

  2. Drill Wall Hole:
After determining where the pipe will go through the wall, drill a wall hole. Notes: When drilling holes, make sure to avoid wires, plumbing, gas, and other sensitive components. The wall hole should be inclined outward by 5-10 degrees, with a diameter of 60-80mm. Use an anti-dust bag to avoid dust when drilling the hole.

Video: A technician drilling a hole in a wall for the refrigerant piping, demonstrating the use of a dust bag and proper angle.

  3. Installation of Connection Cable:
Pass the power cable out from the back of the indoor unit and fix it on the terminal board. Fix the cable with a clamp. Note: Must follow the wiring diagram inside the box cover.
  4. Knock-out Panel:
According to the piping direction, remove the knock-out panel with a knife, and remove burrs to prevent the drain pipe from being broken.
  5. Connection of Refrigerant Piping:
Use both hands to turn the pipe in the desired direction. Note: It is forbidden to operate with one hand, which will make the tube to deform and rupture. Aim at the pipe center, tighten the taper nut with fingers, then tighten the taper nut with 2 wrenches. Note: It's better to use a torque wrench to tighten the taper nut, the required torque is shown in the picture.
    Torque Specifications for Taper Nuts
    Size of pipe (mm)Torque (N.m)
    Φ6 / Φ6.3515-25
    Φ9 / Φ9.5235-40
    Φ12 / Φ12.745-60
    Φ15.8873-78
    Φ19.0575-80
  6. Install the Drain Hose:
Connect the drain hose with the water outlet pipe, and fix it firmly with adhesive tape. The length should be more than 5cm to prevent water leakage.
  7. Wrap the Piping:
Wrap refrigerant piping, wires, and drain pipe with wrapping tape.
  8. Mount Indoor Unit:
Put the refrigerant piping out of the wall hole. Put the indoor unit on the mounting plate. Push the lower part of the indoor unit until a 'click' sound is heard to make sure the indoor unit is firmly fixed to the wall. To protect piping and wires, a pipe protecting ring shall be installed sealed with putty.

4.4. Outdoor Unit Installation Steps

Outdoor Unit Position Requirements:

  • Outdoor unit must be installed in a firm and flat place to prevent vibration and noise.
  • To the obstruction (top): > 20cm
  • To the obstruction (sides): > 30cm
  • Air in side: > 10cm
  • Air out side: > 200cm

If installing the air conditioner to a higher place, the operator should wear a safety belt and helmet.

  1. Install Outdoor Unit Bracket:
Use a level to ensure the bracket is horizontal and vertical. Use at least 6 expansion bolts to make sure brackets are fixed firmly on the wall.
  2. Fix Outdoor Unit:
Put the outdoor unit onto the brackets. Use 4 screws to fix the feet of the outdoor unit.
  3. Connect Refrigerant Piping:
Remove the nut from the stop valves. Aim at the pipe center of the stop valve, tighten the taper nut with fingers. Tighten the taper nut with 2 wrenches. Note: It's better to use a torque wrench to tighten the taper nut, the required torque is shown in the table above.
  4. Vacuumize:
Connect the stop valve, charging hose, manifold valve, and vacuum pump as shown in the diagram. Before vacuuming, check all the nuts of the indoor and outdoor unit are tightened. Turn on handle Lo to vacuumize. Vacuumize for 15 minutes at least, make sure the value on the pressure gauge is ≤0.1MPa. Pressure keep for 3-5 minutes after vacuumizing, make sure pressure springback ≤0.05MPa. Open 1/4 liquid valve, and remove charging hose. Open all the liquid valves and gas valves. Screw all the caps and tighten up.
  5. Fix Cables:
Remove the electrical box cover. Fix cables to the terminal board according to the wiring diagram on the E-parts cover. Use a clamp to fix the cables. Put the electrical box cover back.
