3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

Connect the power cable to the printer and a suitable power outlet. Press the power button located on the side/rear of the printer to turn it on. To power off, press the power button again and ensure the printer has cooled down.

3.2 Loading Filament

  1. Place the filament spool onto the designated spool holder.
  2. Feed the filament into the IFS module's input port.
  3. On the touchscreen, navigate to the filament loading menu and follow the on-screen prompts to load the filament into the nozzle.

3.3 Preparing a Model for Printing

The AD5X is compatible with slicing software such as Orca Slicer or Flashforge Slicer. Use these programs on your computer (Windows, macOS) to convert your 3D model files (e.g., STL, OBJ) into G-code, which the printer understands. Configure print settings like layer height, infill, and supports as needed.

3.4 Starting a Print

  1. Transfer the G-code file to the printer via USB disk, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet connection.
  2. On the printer's 4.3-inch touchscreen, select the desired file from the print menu.
  3. Confirm print settings and initiate the print. The printer will automatically perform bed leveling before starting the print.

3.5 Monitoring and Removing a Print

Monitor the printing process via the touchscreen. Once the print is complete and the print bed has cooled, carefully remove the printed object from the PEI flexible steel sheet. The flexible sheet allows for easy removal of prints.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Nozzle Cleaning and Replacement

Regularly inspect the nozzle for clogs or wear. Use the provided unclogging tool to clear minor blockages. For severe clogs or worn nozzles, replace the quick-release nozzle as instructed in the detailed user manual.

4.2 Print Bed Care

Clean the PEI flexible steel sheet with isopropyl alcohol after each print to ensure optimal adhesion for future prints. Avoid using abrasive materials that could damage the surface. If adhesion issues persist, apply a thin layer of the provided glue stick.

4.3 General Cleaning

Keep the printer free from dust and filament debris. Use a soft cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Periodically check and clean the guide rails and lead screws, applying a small amount of grease as needed to ensure smooth movement.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Common Printing Issues

  • Poor First Layer Adhesion: Ensure the print bed is clean, properly leveled, and the nozzle temperature is correct for the filament type.
  • Filament Clogging: Check for debris in the nozzle, ensure proper filament loading, and verify the hotend temperature is sufficient.
  • Layer Shifting: Inspect belts and pulleys for looseness or damage. Ensure the printer is on a stable surface.
  • Poor Print Quality: Review slicing software settings (e.g., print speed, retraction, cooling) and ensure filament is dry.

5.2 Error Messages

If the printer displays an error message, consult the detailed user manual or the manufacturer's support website for specific codes and solutions. Common errors may relate to temperature sensors, motor issues, or filament detection.
