4. Product Overview

Controls and Indicators:
- Display: Large LED display for time, alarm status, and radio frequency.
- ALR 1 / ALR 2: Buttons to set and activate Alarm 1 and Alarm 2.

5. Setup
5.1 Power Connection
- Connect the power adapter to the DC IN socket on the back of the alarm clock.
- Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
- The display will light up, and the clock will be ready for time setting.
5.2 Battery Backup
The alarm clock uses 2 x AAA batteries (not supplied) for backup power. In case of a power outage, the battery backup preserves your time and alarm settings.
- Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
- Insert 2 x AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover.
5.3 Setting the Time
- Press and hold the HOUR button until the hour digits start flashing.
- Press HOUR repeatedly to set the hour.
- Press and hold the MIN button until the minute digits start flashing.
- Press MIN repeatedly to set the minute.
- The time will be set automatically after a few seconds of inactivity, or you can press SCAN / ENTER to confirm.
5.4 Daylight Saving Time (DST)
To adjust for Daylight Saving Time, simply press the DST button. The time will shift by one hour forward or backward, and the DST indicator will appear/disappear on the display.

6.1 FM Radio
6.1.1 Tuning to FM Stations
- Press the DAB/FM button (if available, otherwise assume FM is default mode or use TUN+/-).
- Press TUN- or TUN+ repeatedly to manually tune to a desired frequency.
- To auto-scan for the next available station, press and hold TUN- or TUN+.
- Adjust the volume using VOL- or VOL+.
6.1.2 Storing and Recalling Presets
The device can store up to 20 FM radio stations.
- Tune to the desired FM station.
- Press and hold the PRESET / BACK button until the preset number flashes.
- Use TUN- or TUN+ to select a preset number (1-20).
- Press SCAN / ENTER to confirm.
- To recall a preset station, press PRESET / BACK repeatedly to cycle through stored stations.
6.2 Alarm Function
The Philips TAR4500 features dual alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2) that can be set independently.
6.2.1 Setting an Alarm
- Press and hold ALR 1 or ALR 2 until the alarm time flashes.
- Press HOUR to set the alarm hour.
- Press MIN to set the alarm minute.
- Press ALR 1 or ALR 2 again to select the alarm source: Buzzer or FM Radio. The corresponding icon will appear on the display.
- The alarm will be set automatically after a few seconds of inactivity, or you can press SCAN / ENTER to confirm.
6.2.2 Activating/Deactivating an Alarm
Press ALR 1 or ALR 2 briefly to toggle the alarm on or off. The alarm icon will appear when active and disappear when inactive.
6.2.3 Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the large SNOOZE / BRIGHTNESS button to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 9 minutes. The alarm will sound again after the snooze period.
6.2.4 Stopping the Alarm
To stop the alarm completely, press the corresponding ALR 1 or ALR 2 button. The alarm will reset for the next day.
6.3 Sleep Timer
The sleep timer allows you to fall asleep to the radio, which will automatically turn off after a set duration.
- While the radio is playing, press the SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through available sleep timer durations (e.g., 120, 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes, OFF).
- The radio will play for the selected duration and then automatically turn off.
6.4 Display Brightness
To adjust the brightness of the LED display, press the SNOOZE / BRIGHTNESS button (when the alarm is not sounding) repeatedly to cycle through different brightness levels.

6.5 USB-C Charging Port
The integrated USB-C port allows you to charge your smartphone or other compatible devices overnight.

- Connect your device's USB-C charging cable to the USB-C port on the alarm clock.
- Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
- Charging will begin automatically.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
- Disconnect the device from the power outlet before cleaning.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior of the unit.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
7.2 Battery Replacement
If the battery backup function is not working, or if the clock loses time during a power outage, replace the AAA batteries in the battery compartment (refer to Section 5.2).
