2. General Safety Instructions

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

  • Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use hearing protection when operating for extended periods. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
  • Battery Pack Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Do not use battery packs with any other power tools.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Charging

Insert the battery into the charger. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. Charging time is approximately 1 hour for a full charge.

5.2 Battery Installation and Removal

To install, align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place. To remove, press the release buttons on the sides of the battery and slide it out.

5.3 Installing and Removing Drill Bits/Accessories

Twist the keyless chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws. Insert the desired drill bit or accessory into the chuck. Twist the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Ensure the bit is centered and firmly held before operation. To remove, twist the chuck counter-clockwise until the jaws open sufficiently.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Speed Selection

Use the speed selector switch, located on top of the drill, to choose between two speed ranges:

  • Low Speed (0-450 RPM): Ideal for driving screws, drilling larger holes, or applications requiring higher torque.
  • High Speed (0-1450 RPM): Suitable for faster drilling in softer materials or applications requiring less torque.

6.2 Torque Adjustment

Rotate the torque adjustment ring, located behind the chuck, to select the desired torque setting (1-18) or the drill mode. Lower settings are for driving small screws or working with soft materials to prevent overtightening or damage. Higher settings and the dedicated drill mode are for drilling or driving larger screws.

6.3 Forward/Reverse/Lock Switch

The switch located above the trigger controls the direction of rotation and locks the trigger for safety:

  • Push the switch to the left for forward (clockwise) rotation, used for tightening screws and drilling.
  • Push the switch to the right for reverse (counter-clockwise) rotation, used for loosening screws.
  • When the switch is in the center position, the trigger is locked, preventing accidental activation. Use this position when changing accessories or storing the tool.

6.4 Starting and Stopping

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your tool.

  • Cleaning: Keep the tool clean and free from dust, debris, and moisture. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the drill and batteries in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure the tool is in the locked position before storage.
  • Chuck Inspection: Regularly inspect the chuck for wear or damage and ensure it operates smoothly.
  • Battery Care: Charge batteries fully before storage and every 3-6 months if not in regular use to prolong battery life. Do not store batteries in a discharged state.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your drill, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Drill does not start:
    • Check if the battery is fully charged and properly installed.
    • Ensure the Forward/Reverse/Lock switch is not in the center (locked) position.
  • Chuck not holding bits securely:
    • Ensure the chuck is tightened sufficiently by hand.
    • Inspect the chuck jaws for any damage, debris, or excessive wear that might prevent proper gripping.
  • Reduced power or short battery life:
    • The battery may need charging.
    • Ensure the charger is functioning correctly.
    • Battery may be nearing the end of its lifespan and require replacement.
  • Overheating:
    • Allow the tool to cool down. Avoid continuous heavy-duty operation.
    • Ensure ventilation slots are clear of obstructions.
