Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the KVM switch. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, which may damage the finish or internal components.
- Ventilation: Ensure the KVM switch is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation holes.
- Cable Management: Organize cables neatly to prevent strain on ports and accidental disconnections. Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on cables.
- Environmental Conditions: Keep the device away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions.
- No Display on Monitor:
- Ensure all DisplayPort cables are securely connected between computers, KVM, and monitor.
- Verify that the KVM switch is powered on and the correct input (Computer 1 or 2) is selected.
- Check if the monitor is powered on and set to the correct DisplayPort input source.
- Try connecting a computer directly to the monitor to rule out monitor or computer display issues.
- Restart the computers and KVM switch.
- USB Devices (Keyboard/Mouse) Not Working:
- Ensure the USB 3.0 A-Male to B-Male cables are securely connected from both computers to the KVM switch.
- Verify that your USB devices are properly plugged into the front USB 3.0 ports of the KVM switch.
- Try connecting the USB devices directly to the computer to confirm they are functional.
- Some high-power USB devices may require external power or a powered USB hub.
- Intermittent Display or Flickering:
- Ensure you are using high-quality DisplayPort 1.4 cables, especially for high resolutions (8K60Hz, 4K144Hz). The provided cables are recommended.
- Check cable lengths; excessively long cables can degrade signal quality.
- Update graphics drivers on your computers.
- Reduce the display resolution or refresh rate temporarily to see if the issue persists.
- Switching Delay:
- A brief delay during switching is normal as the KVM establishes connection with the new computer.
- Ensure all cables are firmly connected.
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact CMSTEDCD customer support.
